I've used this technique several times and it is AWESOME! Chicken, Salmon, Pork Loin all come out perfect. I use Applewood, but will be buying some of the other types of Cameron's chips to try soon. If you live in an apartment and like the taste of smoked food, this is an absolute gem of an idea. Try it!

Do you need a pot with a heavy thick base? Or would a cheap one do?

@@GregSzarama see lodge oven smoker for a heavy pan. I've seen reviews the stainless steel fancy smoker bottom falls off. you can also search wok vids for smoking chicken, I attached a link and my comment got deleted. so have to search for both heavy bottom cast iron lodge oven smoker pot and wok vids for smoking chicken. good luck.

This is awesome. I’m going to try this in my instant pot. Might need to add a little water in the bottom due to nature of the pressure cooker but I’m excited

How do you know what the temp inside it is though, smoking requires lower temps.

Most of what you cook in there will require extra cooking in oven. This is just to get the smoke flavor in the meat.

You can take it outside and release the smoker there or below a window with an exhaust fan. Just think outside the box.

@@vickikurk116 To penetrate it's likely best to do it before the main cook but I've seen it smoked before and after so do what is best per situation.

Hmm, I didn't notice either one. Guess it's what our brains tune into, or ability to filter. Also, I think although she used "tin" and "aluminum" foil terms, I think it was w/o thinking, & used interchangeably, which confused one viewer (above). Hope it doesn't smoke up the house or wreck my expensive pot.

that is not smoked, it is steamed cooking with no way for the smoke to permeate in that short of time. worthless really :D

Did you try it to prove your theory that it doesn't work? If it didn't work for Saveur why did they make a video to demonstrate it if it doesn't end up with food with a smoky flavor? Seems like a good way to undermine their own reputation. Also, why are there stovetop/oven smoker pots/containers being sold by numerous manufacturers?
