A beautiful arrangement John, I finally had a go at making one based on this today - for St Mildred’s church Patronal day on Sunday - flowers have to be blue and white like the colours of her robe. I had to make some substitutes and it certainly challenged me but your design is wonderful so thankyou! 👏👏

Janos! It was so good to see him as it's been a while. Does he design? All that aside, John, the vase is stunning as is the arrrangement. Blue and white is, to me, second only to green and white in my color preferences. I love the crispness of it. The lines of that design make me smile for it all works so well. Your floral choices would be my own! Thank you, and I hope you guys have a good week!

Hello... I was wondering if you have a video of a sympathy arrangement for an urn? And if not do you have any tips on how to secure the urn
@FlowerJoos2 жыл бұрын
Hello! We don’t I’m afraid. It’s not a common design in Scotland, but I think I would buy or make a base - like a cake board, and then use this as the base to hold the flowers and the Urn. As it will be handled by an undertaker they will look after it, so in some ways the urn is best separate and it has weight. The flowers can be fixed to the base with glue or floral fix on the container base.

This is absolutely the most beautiful arrangement I've seen. I would love to do this for my niece's reception. How would I incorporate purple lilies and navy blue to be eye catching once you enter the room. Thanks
@FlowerJoos2 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 the process is the same - just use the lilies as the focal flowers - but few flowers in navy blue available, so you might be able to add this with ribbon, or a container that has navy blue. Dried palm or dried elements coloured is another way to add in non available colours .

John you have helped me before as I am doing some of my daughters wedding flowers. My question isn't really about flowers this time but I live in the country in Northern Ireland and my daughter gets married on 4th June. I was thinking of using ivy, laurels etc out of water to put on tables etc. I have seen ruscus used but not sure it grows here. Is there something I could use which grows even in the wild which is good out of water (we live in the country and lots of natural greenery around) ? There is a light hoop at the top of the tippee in the garden and I need to secure greenery to that in some way. Any advice on greenery would be greatly appreciated.
@FlowerJoos2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. You already have the right idea using foliage that is hard to the touch - such as ivy and laurel. So these are ideal and anything not soft. So any new growth that hasn’t hardened is at risk, but if it all gets a good drink that’s also important. If you can find some source of eucalyptus then that would be great, and you could add on touches of conifer or pine ( ones with a nice texture ) to add contrast. But I think ivy trails and mature ivy sprigs are a great base material to use, then add others to this. You can also cut a few days before - ideally put into water, a dark shed and cover with plastic! Hope that helps!
@billy121ish2 жыл бұрын
@@FlowerJoos thanks so much! Would I just use wire to secure greenery to hoop?
@FlowerJoos2 жыл бұрын
@@billy121ish the paper covered twine from oasis is really good! Yes, you could use this wire or even reel wire or rose wires. The good thing about the paper one is it won’t cut through the flowers if you twist it tight. 😊

On the subject of blue flowers How do you get hydrangeas into an arrangement that lasts please Brides wants blue and lace in church
@FlowerJoos2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is a problem . The soft early hydrangea can wilt with no notice. In America they use a dip of alum to help - here I would really condition the hydrangeas well, then a good angled cut. If you can arrange direct into water that is the best solution - so adding big tubes, or using a chicken wire base in a container with a depth of water instead of just foam. Or - make your design, then pop the hydrangea in at the last minute is another option,but that depends on your timings. Hope that helps a little! 😀
@zoemapp2 жыл бұрын
@@FlowerJoos thank you soooomuch I could pop them in 5 minutes before the service How to you feel about hiding some silk in there?
