How to make a strong frame for inductive coil any size

For the demonstration, I will make spools of different materials: baking paper, textolite, getinax, printer paper and fiberglass. These materials play the role of epoxy reinforcement.

DC motor, premade PWM speed control module, replace the pot with a foot pedal potentiometer (sewing speed control), or build your own. Bonus points: reverse switch

О, старая забытая технология. Лет 40 назад делали корпуса телескопов также. Только еще обечайку мазали маслом, растительным, машинным, не важно, чтобы легче снималось и клей не прилип. Бумагу зря взяли тонкую, надо брать чертежную, будет почти не хуже стеклоткани. Ну и можно сразу всю не мазать, чтобы чище было. Оборот навернул, кисточкой подмазал с одной стороны, еще навернул и т.д.

Разумеется, композит с эпоксидкой старая технология. :) Тот же гетинакс, текстолит, стеклотекстолит это оно и есть. Корпуса лодок, авиамодели, рыболовные удилища - всего не перечесть, где стеклоткань с эпоксидкой применяется.

Man is so determined, that even glue cannot stick to his gold hands. I get that you mentioned usage of rubber gloves, but still. Thank you for your content. Btw is it possible to achieve same durability of handcraft with the use of wood glue instead of epoxy? Like using more layers of paper or some mix of glue and hardener?(not for coils, but for crafts)

Thank you for your interest! I think you can successfully use wood glue and even PVA glue with paper. If you know, once upon a time people made papier mache from newspapers and wheat flour based glue. I even remember how as a child in the USSR we glued wallpaper in our apartment with such homemade glue, in the USSR no glue for wallpaper was made yet.

@@grain8314 Oh I know, my grandma had such wallpapers. Back in the days. I tried to paper mache with around 6-7 different approaches, but most of them seems not to be reliable. That's why I started wondering. Have a can of PVA glue and some printing paper. Gonna try your method of layering and soaking.

It's a good idea and I would like to follow it. everything starts from the core of the coil on which to build the frame. where do you get it from? any suggestions would be valuable

The frame can be done in different ways. 1. You can use the core that will be used. But after winding the paper so that the coil can be easily put on later. 2. You can make the desired diameter or shape from wood, plastic, 3D printer.
