Thank you. I’ve been wrapping my leftover sourdough bread in a beeswax wrap. Keeps the bread soft. This was my first experience with these wraps. Love your videos. I ,too , have not been discarding. Best bread ever.

Thank you so much for very easy to follow. It came out very good. The only thing I did wrong was used smaller Dutch oven. This is the first time I ever made bread.

Can I use all clad stainless steel Dutch oven?
@tastefullyathome
@tastefullyathome Ай бұрын
Hello. Yes you can use that particular Dutch oven. Just ensure that the lid is heavy enough to keep the steam inside. And you might want to test the oven temperature, as the cast iron heats up really fast, but I'm not sure All-clad . I hope this helps

Hello. Thank you for your question. You can use a covered metal pot (with lid) that both lid and pot can withstand high temperatures in the oven to at least 450° f. Please read the manufacturers instruction. The main reason you need a lid is because the traditional sourdough bread needs to steam. Preferably a heavy lid so the steam stays inside. Whether the bread steams or not it will still bake, but when it steams it creates a spongy and airy texture inside and a crispy crust. Otherwise, the top could get too dark and hard. The sourdough sandwich bread doesn't need to steam, and I have a video on how you can make a sourdough sandwich bread. It's a little bit different recipe. The other option is to use a metal loaf pan. For this method you will need to preheat the oven, then spritz the dough with water before placing it in the oven. There are other few steps that you need to follow while the bread bakes. There are definitely other methods such as using boiling water in a pan, on the bottom rack, but the instructions for all these other options would be long for me to explain here, and for safety reasons, I suggest you type on the search tab: how to bake a sourdough bread without a dutch oven. There are many good bakers here that have great videos showing you this step by step. I hope that this answer is helpful. Have a blessed day!

Hi. Thank you for your question. You can store it in a brown paper bag, or wax bags (wax paper) also works well. I tend to store it either in the microwave, or If you store it in the fridge, place it in a ziplock bag, so it doesn't dry out

Hello. That's a very good question. You can perfectly use a covered metal pot (with lid) that both lid and pot can withstand the high temperatures of the oven to at least 450° f. Please read the manufacturers instruction. There are several reasons why you need a lid, but the main one is because the traditional sourdough bread (artisan), needs to steam. That's why it is baked covered most of the baking time. Whether the bread steams or not it will still bake, but the difference is that when the bread steams it creates a spongy and airy texture inside and a crispy crust. Otherwise, the top could get too dark and hard. The sourdough sandwich bread doesn't need to steam, and I have a video on how you can make a sourdough sandwich bread. Hi Miss Agnes, a covered casserole dish has worked for me at a friend's home. But, the cast iron pot with a lid allows the bread to develop its own humid environment for that crisper crust 😉

Notice when Miss Tastefully's oven window fogged up as she closed the oven after removing the dutch oven's lid? Hopefully, your casserole lid is heavy and will create the same effect. They are expensive, they are heavy, but I've had mine since my twenties, and I love the darn thing.
