How To Make A Super Sailor Moon Cosplay

Sailor Moon is what got me into anime when I was very young and I finally got around to making a costume of her when I grew up! I wanted to show my method of cosplaying on the cheap because I love sharing ideas! I learn so much from other cosplayers and thought I would join in on the conversation.

I know a lot of cosplayers hate the glittery material but for Sailor Moon, I love it and use glitter a lot myself. I also love using nail polish for cosplay. It's so awesome to use to get the color you want with a glossy finish. Very cool that you found a pleated white skirt at a thrift store so you didn't have to make the whole thing. Lucky find!

It's not easy sometimes, especially since I can be pretty shy. But when some people actually do smile, or a little kid sees you and gets excited about their favorite character...then it's all worth it :)

That is really rough. I know that even some of my family thought I was weird for a while. Eventually they saw how much it meant to me and how many skills I gained from it and accepted that I liked what I liked. I am sure if you find other cosplayers in your area you can gain some good friends to hang out with who accept you for your interests. People think badly of things they don't want to understand, but in the end, they can't pull you away from the things you love because that's not fair. :)

Great question! You know those capsule toys at the grocery store? I took two capsule toy lids and glued red fabric onto them. I also glued a white circle of cardboard on for the rim. Then on the back I glued bobby pins that stick straight out so I can stick them into the wig hairs. Very cheap and easy way to do it :D

when i did her cosmic power henshin outfit for halloween:the brooch i did was with a makeup compact that i made to look for that efect of the compact opening with a pink crystal inside and i put on 2 clips so the brooch would not move or fall from thw bow :)

Great job for an "on-the-cheap" costume! Hats off to you! Still was a lot of work though, that's apparent. I've also had issues with sewing spandex, so I know your pain. My problem was that I had the machine foot adjusted for normal fabric so it was really pushing down on the stretchy spandex. I loosened up the foot so that it was just barely touching the spandex and I was able to run it through the sewing machine much easier. I always have problems with aerosol paint too. Drips & blobs!

Sailor Crafty hi i am finally doing sailor moon and went to your video for help ( still love it ) i am doing the first sailor moon costume . i wanted to ask if you had the gloves with your costume if so where did you get them ? also boot covers ,,, i have never sown ,,, sowed ? in my life ,,, wanted to see your option on using like red legging or red tights over boots would work ? that or can you tell me how you make the book covers in a massage on here or something thanks , your fan eri

Eri Tenshi I bought white gloves from either Claire's or The Icing in the mall, they usually had some with their prom type jewelry. If not, most costume shops carry long white gloves. I added red fabric with some stuffing put in for the ends of the gloves. As for boot covers, if you can find some really opaque (not see through at all) tights they might work over some shoes if you wore flat shoes. I made mine by buying a pair of calf high boots at the thrift store, then tracing around them to make the pattern for the fabric. I sewed two pieces of boot-shaped fabric together and put some elastic on the bottom to help hold the boot in while I walk around. So I wore the thrift store boots with the fabric cover over them. I hope that made sense haha.

Eri Tenshi Yes, you can buy elastic from craft and fabric stores. You could also take it out of a piece of clothing, but it's usually cheap enough that you can buy it by itself. You can find coupons for JoAnn and Michael's and places like that to help keep the cost down. I don't go to KumoriCon, what state is that in? I'm from Utah so I usually go to cons that are close to my area.

oh you have a black cat too, looks just like my kitty spooky but then again a generc pure black cat is not too hard to find, but your kitty sits all unammused like mine does. though I got to say the mid henshin cosplay was creepy with all that pink makeup, never saw one before but covering up your nice face with pink makup dont suite you, you got a pretty face dont hide it with pink makeup.
