Beautiful work, Mike! 😃 As soon as I get a table saw I'm going to make something like that! For sure! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Great work, I made a crappy old jig some time back just to get through a project but have continued using it and bitching about it every time I do, but now I'm inspired to make a proper one. Thanks for the inspiration!

Amazing! I now have table saw envy. I have an okay Lowes special but I think I need something along the lines of what you have there : ).

I’m not sure I’d make this if I wasn’t regularly needing tapers. But if I were, it’s great!

2:05 Forget about the jig... I'm going to get some awesome LED lighting installed under my router table like this guy has.

I don't have a jointer and have thought about doing something like this in place of one. Would you modify anything to turn this into a jointing jig as well as tapering?
@Woodumakeit4 жыл бұрын
Depending on the length of stock that you plan to use it for to get a straight edge, you might want to consider making the stop at the end of the tapering fence to be removable. That would likely give you another 6" - 8" of length that you could run along the blade before fully exiting at the back of the saw.

How strong is the clamping? The arms seem long so the lever effect is at mechanical disadvantage.
@Woodumakeit4 жыл бұрын
The purpose of the clamping is primarily to minimize any horizontal movement of the tapering fence and the piece that I'm cutting, so there's not a lot of pressure that's needed. I haven't had any issues so far.

Not my idea but instead of keeping the wedges, I saw a guy from WOOD magazine use a screw or metal dowel in his end block that fits into a small hole on the table leg. That way you can just twist the leg after each cut and know it’s aligned to the same point.

That's a really good idea! I'm going to be making a set of tapered table legs soon, so I'll see if I can give that a try.
