What types of paper would you recommend for embossing covers with? I've noticed some wear easily or will sort of fuzz up and attract dirt when handled frequently.

I've been using ModPodge on my books since I made this video. It makes for a wonderfully durable surface and it looks incredible. If you don't want the book to look shiny you can get it in matte finish.

What is the process for actually working the paper into the relief to get that embossed effect? What tool do you use?

It is actually debossed. Embossing is raised; debossing is recessed or indented.

Use the pointy end of the bone folder and use wax paper over it or it will tear while you're working it in. The paper will be wet with glue and will eventually conform and stick to the recess.
