Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your videos. I have been using them with my 100% remote jewelry/metalsmithing high school students who are at home making all sorts of things in their bedrooms during this wacky year! Clear, easy to follow! So grateful for what you are doing and sharing with so many folks.

This was wonderful! Could you give any advice on what wire I should use if I want it to be gold and the color of the wire not fade too fast?

***** Do you have any links to sterling and the gold? Or even just a price range that you typically use/see? I'm sorry I'm always short on time so researching isn't easy to get to for me. :\

I have an idea. I just made one wrapped around a stone it was pretty hard. What if you did this first and then pressed it to a stone then tied it with a couple around the back.ypu would need the right stone though like a sphere or whatever.

Thanks for the tutorial! 😊 I'm just starting out and did my first hammer project making a bookmark with beads. I don't have a jeweler's hammer but I have a small steel plate and I use my carpenter's hammer/framing hammer. I layer thick plastic bags around the wire to prevent messing it up. I've only ever used copper wire with the hammer so far. I imagine hammering would ruin silver "plated" wire with its thin layer of silver, wouldn't it?

When you hammer the circle do you hammer both sides?
@FantasiaElegance
@FantasiaElegance 5 жыл бұрын
Nope! You only need to hammer one side because the steel bench block flattens the other surface as you hammer the top side.

Hi Charlotte ! I am not the original poster, but I bought my hammer and anvil on Amazon. Here are a couple of links. I bought beginner tools without investing too much. There are lower priced options but these were the two I went with after reviews and my needs of hammering copper wires. www.amazon.com/SE-8325CH-Chasing-Hammer/dp/B009RLGF1Q/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1519737585&sr=8-5&keywords=jewelers+hammer and www.amazon.com/SE-JT34443SB-Steel-Bench-Block/dp/B008CO8DIM/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1519737629&sr=1-1&keywords=steel+bench+block

Do you have a site that you sell things from? Do you have a name for your design line? Do you mind if others make and sell your designs? I got into beading to add to my budget on my eBay site for times when the storage sales are thin or just not the right kind of items for ebay... but I wouldn't want to step on your toes. Please let me know... I can always use your designs for gifts.

I followed your this tutorial and the part two and completed a tree of life today. (Picture here: facebook.com/VeRajArt/photos/a.821253641259084.1073741828.548759115175206/1022073064510473) I'm curious about one thing, though. I used 100% copper wire, and followed your instructions on how to clean it while straightening it before cutting the wire off the spool. I even continued to clean the cut piece and the pieces I used for the actual tree beyond that. Working with the wire, I stained my fingers a dark, almost black color, the same color that came off on the jewelry cleaning cloth I have. It happened several times but washed off with some scrubbing. It wasn't the green color people complain about with copper jewelry, so I'm unsure what the cause of this might be. It was cut from brand new spools from a reputable vendor. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial! It was very easy to follow along and inspired me to try today.

+Jocelyn D. Thank you! I've made a few trees of life before, but I think this was my best one (thanks to you). I was worried that there was something wrong with the copper when it did that. It didn't seem tarnished, it appeared clean, but it just kept wiping off black. Copper is definitely much more affordable than sterling, and I also really love the way it looks. When you polish after oxidizing, do you just use a polishing cloth to do that or do you use steel wool? Thanks again!
