How to Make a Turret and Flawless* Raid Defense System | Scrap Mechanic Survival

For my turrets, I use as few parts as possible. 1switch, 1mounted spudgun, 1sensor, 1controller, 1ammo container, 1bearing, 3 logic gates (1 or gate, 1 nor gate, 1 and gate), 1 timer (to slow down the pulse rate and allow it to be customized for minimal ammo wastage), and a few wood blocks. the controller is set to constantly turn left and right at an adjustable angle tolerance (i use 33 degrees and -33degrees)when it receives power, My chosen pulse design is made by connecting the "or" gate to the timer, then the timer to the "and" gate, then the "and" gate to the "nor" gate, then the switch to the "and" gate, then the sensor (which is placed on top of the spudgun barrel) to the "and" gate , then the "and" gate to the spudgun. the entire mechanism is made to be as compact as possible, and is put together in the shape of a rectangular prism. The prism contains no parts other than the ones I have listed. Depending on how I arrange the layout, I have gotten it to be as small as 4x5x6, with room to spare. I hope this is easy to follow, it is meant to be read as if you were building along with it like instructions. The layout can be changed as much as you want and still function as long as the connections remain the same. Please test my design, improve it, and give me instructions in a reply. I love these style of guns, mine are alot more simple but alot more compact (only 1 sensor, but going really fast back and forth, each time it triggers it basicly reverse direction).

Your vids are great man, well done. The explainations are great. Esp for us slower older folks. Got everything working, except when I connect the And Gate to the gun, it just fires continually. Any idea what I did wrong? Got it.. Or to And not And to Or.. For Timer would And Nor Timer not be easier? Or do you prefer And And And Nor?

Nice video :) A bit disorganized, but really nice turret. My farm defense is entirely passive. Just T2 concrete walls all around. As long as i dont trigger a T9 or 10 raid i can afk all night and the bots just despawn.

tip bud dont turn your subscribers to bigger channels... they dont cover alot of this stuff... this may be beginner things but those of us new to logic systems dont understand this stuff too well thats why tutorials in my mind are so popular... alot of the bigger guys arent using spud turrets to defend... diesel is but his dont seem to work so well yours are actually killing things for you

Yeah... the other big name youtubers annoy the hell out of me. They click bait you with a new build that you want to learn and their videos are 75% fluff. "I'm going to unbox 5 garment boxes before I even start to talk about what I'm building!" I have to watch their videos at 2X speed. Kan is pretty good but he doesn't always go into great detail on his builds. And sometimes he'll show you a build and the next video he'll go, "Oh that was trash I build this instead and I'm not going to show you how!" Long story short, I've watched 2 of your videos and learned A LOT. So keep up the good work. Stick to the build and leave out the fluff and I'll watch you over the other guys.

Looking Up can be done, however looking down it runs the risk of sensing the ground

4 and gates, all in a circle, connect them all in a circle, Turn one of the gates to a Nand, you will get the 4 tick clock that constantly flickers. Connecting a switch to any of the and gates will stop it from flickering while the switch is off

I except that it is my fault somewhere but I have re-watched this video about 8 times building along side it and every time I attach the nor and and and gate it just dumps all my ammo. anyone have some advice?

how do your turrets fair against tapebots? whenever I get them they like to take potshots at random sections of my base..

Ok... I've watched it a few times and I think... direction plays a part? Like the middle OR gate has to go to the AND gate. It can't be the other way around. If you notice along the connections, there are tinny arrows that show which way they are going. Honestly, logic gates confuse the hell out of me. I can do simple stuff like connecting 2 switches to an AND/OR gate for a single light or door or something but after that I just get confused and go, "well it works!"

You can make a 1 controller turret But it wont worth locig gates and sensors.

nice idea to do a sensor setup for a turret but i think there are better ways to do it.. btw. you dont need to have that middle or gate.. connect the middle sensor directly into your shooting logics.. that should make the turret more accurate and you are saving an unnecessary logic gate..
