This is FANTASTIC! I have severe hair breakage due to spending half of my life in the hospitals over the past 3 years. This would've helped me protect my hair from so much damage. The best part is how simple they are to make. I can barely get out of bed some days but I feel confident that I can easily make this! Hopefully I can even make some for other patients. This would make such a wonderful project for those who want to help those with chronic illness.

Thanks for watching. I’m so glad that you find this helpful. It really is a fast make. If you find doubling the fabric too hot, you an also keep twisting the front fabric into a donut shape and secure rather than flipping over. You could also make from tshirts that you no longer wear and are nice and stretchy. All the very best to you!

No Way! I was so impressed with how quick and easy this head piece is to make that, my hand just automatically found itself pressing the "Subscribe" button. ...You had me at, "Place the opening on your forehead, twist a couple of times, and flllip the band to the back"! I Love it!! Thank you!

@NotchesSewing11 ай бұрын
Welcome! The selvages are the finished edges of the fabric. They are a tighter weave or knit than the rest of the fabric. You don’t want to use these edges in your projects. The fold will be on the opposite side when you put the two selvages together. Happy Sewing!

@NotchesSewing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Denise. As with all tutorials I make, I will make sometimes up to 20 samples before getting my desired result. This pattern may need to be adjust as I mentioned in the video as everyone’s head is different as the fabric will be too. I suggest starting longer and then shorten if needed. As its only one seam, you’ll just need to stitch say ½” more and trim off the seam. Keep doing until it fits you comfortably. Have fun and thanks for watching. Please share and have a look at some of my other videos😊🙏

@@NotchesSewing I've decided to give this a go using some stretch fabric instead of non-stretch fabric. My fabric doesn't stretch as much as yours and my hair is thick so instead of 21" I made mine 24". Do all the other measurements still apply as far and marking 6" on 12" length side and 7" on the 21" length side, in my case 24" length side?

Wow!! This looks so quick and easy!! Thank you so much for sharing it!! I’m a new follower and am so excited to have found you! Been sewing my whole life, my grandmother taught me how to sew by hand and home ec showed me how to use a sewing machine. I have a sewing box and an older machine that i am dying to replace. I used to make so many things by hand but have had arthritis for twenty years so my hands are finally really starting to not cooperate so a machine is essential. I realize that a sewing machine is a very personal decision but would you have any recommendations for someone who likes to do a lot of creative work on the machine for herself, family and friends but is easy to use?? There are so many options I don’t know where to begin. Thank you so much in advance if you see this and have the time to respond 🤍🤞🏼
@NotchesSewing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm afraid I'm not an expert on domestic machines as I've mainly used industrial machines for most of my life. I do have the Singer 4411 to make buttonholes on occasion. It's quite good for an inexpensive machine. Please watch my video where I compare that machine to 3 of my heavy industrial machines to sew a jean hem. I was pleasantly surprised how well it sewed through the thicknesses. If you are able to test different machines out at a shop, that is your best bet. Don't but super cheap machines as when they break down, it won't be worth the cost of repairing. You'll need to do your research and make sure there is good warranty and support from the shop you purchase from. Good luck and thanks again. Please have a look at some of my other tutorials. Cheers🙂

Hello Angela ! How are you ? I am looking for a head cover for my Mother in law , she is going through chemo and she has hair loss. Her head feels cold now that we are in cooler weather. I watched this video and I wonder if she would be able to manage this twisting of the fabric…. Do you have another video where there is no twisting? I have watch other chemo caps but they are really surgical / medical caps for doctors and nurses. They are made of cotton , and I was told by someone that , it should be stretchy fabric so that it can be snug against her skin. I will ask mom if she can use a turban version , if she says she will then I will make this for her. Guess what … my sewing machine went in for repairs…. Three things wrong, the main problem is the gear is broken and there are no parts. ☹️☹️ it’s 30 years old. I am not a professional sewist so I will be looking for Singer heavy duty machine for home use. There are nicer ones out there but the price tag reflects the quality and I can’t bring myself to pay for the Cadillac version. Lol 😀 If I were an intermediate or expert , yes I would buy the Cadillac version. Just in case mom says no to turban, do you have another version? You’re getting into Spring so enjoy the planting season ! Thanks for your help !
@NotchesSewing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Berniece!! I only have this one at the moment but email a photo of what you are after. You could make this turban, twist it on her and stitch the knotting all in place so she’ll just need to stretch in on. It’s still hot and humid here…….
@wam0357 Жыл бұрын
??question?? If i make the length shorter for a smaller size, do the measurements that come after that change? (This is the top and back measurement)
@NotchesSewing Жыл бұрын
You don’t really have to change the measurements as you can twist more to make smaller. It’s best to test out with the fabric you are using. You can just safety pin together to. try it and adjust measurement to fit you.
@kala1908Ай бұрын
Can you add a satin lining? If so how?
@NotchesSewingАй бұрын
not easily as it will be too thick to twist together. You would need to add a satin lining only to the parts that sit on your head and not the top twisting part.
