Looks great! Trying to make one of these but I'm a bit out of my element. Does the thickness of the wood matter? Would a 1" plank work the same way? And in regards to the clock mechanism, I'm having trouble figuring out which type of kit to get. A lot of places sell different sizes but I'm not sure which one to get if, for example, the diameter of my clock was 12".
