I made this over the last couple days for my son. To add more of a symbiotic look, I used black hot glue around where the sleeve and hoodie join, for the veiny black metamorphism goo. Worked wonders!! Also added a small foam tongue. I have art experience, but never done anything like this before…I’m pretty proud of myself, and thanks to you, I’m once again an awesome Dad. I really would like to know how long it takes you to complete a puppet like this. I was feeling discouraged when I made a puppet and it took more than a day. I know the simpler patterns probably don't take long but for the puppets you used in the dental ad how long do you usually spend on those?
@PuppetNerd3 жыл бұрын
I say at the end of the video. Took about an hour.
@danielsolomon37942 жыл бұрын
Having used his patterns many times to make my own puppets I would say firstly it depends on your techniques, if you stick to hot glue you can expect it to proabbly take two days for a non professional. However, as I use contact cement and sewing for logevity and quality it takes me about a week to complete a puppet (if I am working on it atleast two hours each of those days) The time is due not only to how long it takes to sew, but also the time you have to wait for contact cement to cure. (while it attaches instantly, its not really workable for the next steps until it has cured fully over night)

I love the idea behind the whole thing and the puppet part is absolutely amazing and so well explained, but as a veteran cosplayer, I would definitely NOT recommend hot glue to reinforce those shoulder and arm seams. The heat from your body or even from your environment (convention floors can get HOT let me tell y'all) can make the hot glue melt, so even if you have to add a couple stitches by hand if you don't have a sewing machine or aren't comfortable with one, I'd do that instead.
@PuppetNerd3 жыл бұрын
At that temperature I’d be more worried about dying than my sleeve coming off. I don’t believe this is possible. For a human body to get so hot that it melts hot glue.
@deathpuppet133 жыл бұрын
@@PuppetNerd Well, I don't know the exact melting temp of the glue you're using, but I've literally had pieces that I glued together fall apart because of the heat so....
