That was very helpful- thank you! I want to do the same thing and thought about making a wooden box and slide it in the cut-out. Your idea is better; use sheet rock that is piece-by-piece built in the cut-out! Thank you!

Hey Stephen, it is such a nice feeling, when I can help someone with ideas. My method looks more natural and rigid I guess. Thank you for a subscription. I am on the road to get monetized, so every sub counts :) One day I gonna build a house, so hopefully, you can see, how it is built in Europe ;)

Whats the thing with the blade and the screw at about 3:00 all about?

Hey Michael. It was supporting the glued drywall. Otherwise it would just fall in to that gap.

Not a bad job at all. For skimming I would have used a quick-set filler, just because you can get multiple coats on in one day. But looks really clean and you did well to tape the joints.
@MarekKubi4 жыл бұрын
Hey Karl! Thanks for a comment. I had enough time to complete that work, so i used usual filler. It is cheaper and easier to finish in my opinion :)
@DaddyBear30004 жыл бұрын
Marek Kubi I completely understand. If you aren’t pressured on time it’s better to use what you have than buy a whole different product. Great that you used the expanding foam as well, really simple addition to add a bit of strength.
@MarekKubi4 жыл бұрын
Yeah dude, it is so enjoyable to do stuff like that. Kinda like therapy for me to create something with my hands :D. If i would do that work for earnings, then i am in hurry and looking for places to save on material and time. In my country no-one pay for quality. It is all about the price. Doing for myself i can make something really strong and long-lasting. I hate optimization actually :D

Hi, so the frame is only supported by screws attached to the drywall - was wondering if this is strong enough rather than being attached to other studs / going down to the floor?
@MarekKubi2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes that is enough. I used the foam glue for some extra support. That way I dont need to use silicone in internal corners.

Hi Marek, thank You for sharing this video. Just one question, if I want to instal down light, I should put the wire first and put back the plasterboard on the top after, right?
@MarekKubi2 жыл бұрын
Hey, yes you should then organize wires before frame building. Also, you need to know the light type since maybe you need a hole for the light. Maybe it is easier to do it before finishing.

Silly question but was that just normal paper cut to shape for the joints within the niche ? kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5WkZZ9rr9aXhbs

Hei Leigh. No, it is a special paper in a roll for that purpose. Usual paper is too thin, so it will brake when get water. On outer corner paper there are steel inside for strength.
@stephenmcgeown Жыл бұрын
@@MarekKubi Hi Marek, great video - definitely the best on this subject. Regarding the special papers for the inside and outside corners, can you tell me the names of these products, including the steel-lined ones? I am in the USA so it won't be the same brand as you have in Estonia but if there is a generic name, that would be good. Thanks again for your awesome video :-)
