That whistle is a childhood memory for me. My Grandfather make me one when I was probably 5 and I thought it was the greatest thing. Thank you for bringing that memory back to me.

Does it have to be a willow branch? Does any other tree branch work?

Did that with a maple the other day. He didn't mention one important step though. You have to score the bark COMPLETELY around before trying to pull it off.

@hl5hl5 The willow's bark easily comes off that's why it's better to use but you can use any other type ;)

my dad used to make theses all the time with alters, some times they loose there sound so you have to remove the bark and wet the wooden part.
