Hello Virginia! The rotary cutter is very sharp and I would try to get a self healing mat and in the mean time maybe a cutting board if you have one handy from your kitchen. Just don’t use something that you don’t want to damage like countertops or on a table of any kind. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.

H I Lori, sorry you’re not feeling well! Nice basket for witch’s hat. Dollar tree has those orange cones that are used for caution and that would make a good base for a witch’s hat.
