I made this project but with 6 cubbies instead of 4. Thanks for the plans. This was awesome. My first woodworking project. I also build an mcm style base for it to bring it off the floor.

I tend to prefer a system that allows me to move the shelves with pins. But this looks real sturdy. Nice

A search of "building record shelves" brought me here... after watching about 15 videos, THIS was the smartest design I found. The primary reason for this, is because of the dados that support the shelf... all the other designs I saw rely on shelves that are only screwed in; relying on the shear strength of the screws/nails. Well done sir!

Looks fantastic. Great work. The one thing that jumps out at me as something I would do differently is the dado cuts on the left and right. I'd probably have used a router for that, so that I could stop before I reach the back and have holes that'll show through on the final build.

Nice one. I'm in the middle of an a4/a3 folder cart/trolley in 18thk plywood. Difficult to find dado blades for tablesaws in the UK so I'm going to have to use a router and a guide... very much slower and likely more prone to inaccuracies and setting out issues. Perhaps I should ship myself back a dado capable tablesaw when I'm on holiday in Nova Scotia in Sept :D

Instead of the shelves not being identical sized, I’m looking foe wooden shelving template that all the Squares look like a box and to be 8 Boxes across and 8 boxes high with a total of 72 boxes plus another for my home Based Business so I can display my candles & Melts Which are the safest in the world plus my 100% Natural Body Products - I plan to colour it Sparkly Silver, Fuchsia & Teal as those are my business colours, my Shop / Display Area will be on one side of a sheer curtain and my work space on the other side. For lighting I plan on drilling a hole in each back of the box big enough to fit a fairy light ran off rechargeable batteries or individual mini LED soft Lights the push on & push off for each cube that run off rechargeable batteries tnstead of electricity. My soaps are also the safest in the long run for the skin a need only 1-1/2hrs setting time, my melt and pour soap containing No Lye, No Paraben, No Detergents, SLS, No SLES they are MP Soaps, unlike CP & HP (Cold Process or Hot Process ) that do contain this harsh chemical called Lye is a Caustic Acid - I still ad Fixed Oils, Exfoliants, butters like Shea, Cocoa, mango etc, Essential oils etc All goodness and fantastic lather and in the long run with NOT harm our skin in anyway . Follow me on my KZbin channel or Facebook: facebook.com/chillaxingmelts34 or Instagram @chillaxing_melts35
