I initially ignored this video because "I can weld!" (ego fully in play) . But I am glad I came back around to it as I learned that you did not use white pine 2x's and that this plan was well thought out! I'd love to see a stage 3 on this kart!!!

Please, please, consider replacing the steering shaft with one that is collapsible, at least with one, maybe two bent couplings (angled universal joints) in it.

Eric thanks for sharing your project with us, I do have a question how wide are the cross bars that screw to the rails and how wide is the steering bar? Thanks

Excellent, wonderful implementation and video! With the rear wheels so far out, I'd move the pillow blocks to the outside of the frame (swap the angle brackets) to lesson angular stress on the axle itself.

Can anyone who has built this chime in and tell me where to find the measurements for where the screw holes go in the wood? I have looked all over his website and emailed him but I can't seem to find it. I have the templates for the holes in the metal pieces but can't find anything for the wood. Thanks.

It looks like every part is brand new gone are the days when as kids we used to improvise, and use any old parts we could lay our hands on it was more fun. Oh and you could have rejoined that chain link that you removed by mistake . Good job though !

very impressive. Question: How do you spec out the wood that the vibration of the motor and drive doesn't tear apart the holes in the wood over time?

nice build, it sounds strange listening to someone using British standards, Whitworth sizes instead of metric, should America ever go metric it will take you half a day to get the swing of it and you will be wondering why it took so long to join in with the rest of the world, I remember when the UK went metric in 1972 everyone was saying this won't work, it's a stupid idea etc, two days later, this is great, best thing since sliced bread, instant coffee and filtered cigarettes.

Bought a 18mm plywood board last week, payed 50 Euro. With the actuall wood and everything prices, it is probably cheaper to buy a used car then the material for this Go Kart.

Pro tip: Especially on deep drill holes, if you pull the bit back a few times as you are drilling it allows the gullets of the bit to clear and avoids heating caused by friction in the hole. This is essential on the long bit which does not have the gullet all the way up and can get jammed full on a deep drill operation. Nice project and execution.
