I like the idea of starching the fabric before cutting the setting triangles. It would make them more stable. Quilters can have some great suggestions, fostering a community of sewers looking to help make the process a viable one. Misty- This is a wonderful quilt and so many great suggestions to make it our own. Once again, thanks for showcasing darker backgrounds!

Nice block but you do not want the biased edges on the outside.
@lindadeis4818
@lindadeis4818 6 ай бұрын
I don’t like all those bias sides exposed on your setting triangles. Why don’t you just cut a 23” square and cut it diagonally both ways? That will keep a nice grainline on the outside edge of your setting triangles? That way you won’t end up with a lot of stretch on those outside edges. Definitely rekey makes for a better experience.

Probably didn’t even consider your option. But if I make this I would do it your way. Plus I would iron my fabric before I cut it out. I hate to see wrinkles in fabric, even little ones!

Given the bias edge that she used a stay stitch around the perimeter would help with the stretch

She's sewing on the straight of grain.
@settame1
@settame1 6 ай бұрын
It’s more difficult to cut a square on the bias. Cutting a square mostly on the grain and doing a quick stitch on the bias edge (especially side that won’t get much handling) it’s easier to do.

Why didn’t you make strip sets?
@SewMagic-FabricMagician
@SewMagic-FabricMagician 6 ай бұрын
You could make strip sets, but you would need to use mitred corners to get the same effect. That many mitred corners is not something I would recommend to a beginner or novice sewist/quilter. Using strip sets would also take more time and create a tiny bit more waste fabric. The method Misty demonstrates will piece together quick and easy and anyone can duplicate it with great results. That doesn’t mean you can’t go for the advanced look of the mitred corners. I thought about it. Go for it! Or should I say, “Sew for it.”
