That came out beautiful! And your explanation is so easy to understand. Again, I am so amazed of the projects you come up with. Very unique. How do you learn all of these? You are so inspiring! The Skacel company should hire you to represent what to make on the Addis.

Thanks for sharing. Curious... Why did you not knit "in-the-round" to avoid the seaming?? What am I missing?
@YayForYarn

Hi! I chose to make it as a flat panel, because I thought if I did it circularly, it would create a "jog" in the ridges around the basket. (In other words, the ridges would not line up at the beginning / end of the round, because you are knitting in a continuous spiral.) If you don't mind the ridges not lining up, you could do this circularly. Hope this helps! Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking you did it as a panel because the strain on the sts would be more in circular.

I don't know how long it took, but it did make a nice, sturdy basket. :)

I’m curious why you don’t have the black stoppers like I have seen for a flat panel?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn Жыл бұрын
I do not have those stoppers. They are not required for making flat panels. Some people may find them helpful, but I have not tried them. I hope this helps!

I don’t know much about these machines si if is a dumb question, sorry. Why not just double the yarn and make a tube? This turned out nice.
@YayForYarn

Hi Linda! For this basket, I used rows of tucking to make a thick, stiff fabric that could stand up on its own. If I had just doubled the yarn and knit a tube as normal, the fabric would not have been sturdy enough to stand up. It would be kind of floppy. :) I hope this helps!

I’m really enjoying your helpful tutorials, it is helping me to make the choice to get a knitting machine. How about a thick rug, could I make that with a burlap or hardy tweed?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda! These machines are only compatible with yarn, in the right thickness. Each yarn is classified with a weight category, which indicates the thickness of the yarn. The Addi machines can use yarns from #1 Superfine to #5 Bulky. Anything thicker than that will jam the machine, and possibly break needles. So, no, you could not use burlap or tweed with this. Also, # 5 Bulky weight yarn is not super thick, so if you wanted to make a rug, it would not be thick. Something similar to my Hexagon Flower Blanket would work for a rug, because there are two layers of knitting in each piece: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJmknqqCjt53iqc I hope this helps!

Is six cranks essential or could one do 9 or 12 to make bigger sized rows? I am thinking it might be too loose to stand up?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Krista. Yes, it might be a little loose with more rows between tucking. I think the smaller ridges help make it sturdier. I hope this helps!

I have a question. When counting your rows, is the first cast on row counted as a row?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy. The first cast on row is not counted as a row, so you'll want to zero your row counter after casting on. I hope this helps!

Hi! I haven't tried felting them yet, but I imagine the finished basket would be pretty sturdy once felted. I hope this helps!
