Despite how complicated it may look, this cake is made from only one batter and is surprisingly easy to make. The zebra stripe effect is made by adding spoonfuls of batter to a cake pan, alternating between the chocolate and vanilla batter.

I just love how goofy you are, it shows your fun personality. I remember you used to post videos that were very edited, as you cut out so much of how you really are because you probably thought "no one wants to see this". Wowza! Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks, John. In WI we make what's called a marble cake. Not pretty, but we like it. Pour chocolate fudge cake mix in a straight line over the already prepared vanilla mix in a 9 x 13 pan. Take a kitchen knife, and make swirly lines with the chocolate mix. That's it so you can guess the outcome of the cake. Not pretty, but good.

I feel like I missed something between when you finished making the "white" batter and when you added the cocoa powder and other ingredients to make the chocolate batter. What were you adding the cocoa powder to? Did you separate out some of the first batter?

You are right, the video didn't show it. In the written recipe, he says to separate out 2-1/2 c. of the vanilla batter. Then add cocoa, milk and sugar.

I have baked the cake with unsalted and salted butter and both turn out great. However if using salted butter reduce the amount of salt that recipe calls for. Hope this helps😊
