Ahhh I wish this came out a few days ago my audition was yesterday. I didn’t make it and I’m a senior. But I know getting in isn’t a measure of capabilities and musicianship. I thank you for anything I’ve learned from you nonetheless. I could’ve caught judges on a bad mood or a streak of bad playing people and I didn’t sounds as good a constant sound of good playing people, but hopefully I can get this thought of maybe being not worth county auditions in college auditions. :)

Neill Moscoso Ah man :/ I’m sorry about that. I really wanted to post sooner but the semester destroyed me. I think these tips are still very useful for college auditions if you plan on it! Nevertheless, thanks for being a great long-time viewer!

@mccplayzmc71135 жыл бұрын
bari is so much fun in regions because of that rare chance you get a solo. i made 1st last year as an 8th grader and the saxophones (4 of us total, because it was the higher band) had a solo. but i was the only one who could be heard and the conductor loved it. i didn't audition this year because i hate my highschool's band teacher so much that i refuse to do concert band, so... anyways have fun

I made 1st chair district of a fairly laid-back audition. Only had to do 2 etudes, chromatic full range scale, and a 1 octave E major scale. This is kansas. I'll for sure implement your tips that I am not using, or rather just emphasize them more to make for an appealing all-state audition. Also, I'm ready for that D. Pollack vid!

Do you have a technique for nerves? I feel like they’re a big part of preforming in any competition regarding live judges
@Saxologic5 жыл бұрын
Henburger Nerves never really go away. But, the best way to suppress nerves is to be as prepared as you can. The more prepared you feel, the more you feel a confidence, rather than nervousness. Also, eat a few bananas the morning of your audition. Something about the potassium supposedly helps your brain keep focus when you’re nervous. And last but not least, do a practice audition for your friends or family multiple times before the real audition. To me, auditioning for my brother or mom is far more nerve-wracking than auditioning for some stranger judge I’ll probably never see again.

Coderedpirate yeah we both know LOL. If you use the tuning drone by Richard Schwartz, practice all of your scales slowly, getting rid of waves in each scale degree. You can tune every tone, even minor seconds and major sevenths and tritones. It’s a hell of a listening exercise, but man it really strengthens your ear to play in tune with anyone and anything.
