I use to eat these in Berlin Germany, a little Greek Imbiss was across the street from our Barracks. They used a Lebonese pita, a puffed pita they would cut in half, pull out the airy bread inside the half pita, and stuff the insides with gyro meat, onions, tomatoes and Taziki sauce. Best gyros I have ever eaten.

@@TheGriddleGuys I used to eat authentic Gyros when I was stationed in Ludwigsburg, GE and Baumholder, GE.. In Baumholder, I think the guys were Turkish that owned the Gyros stand... Jeff, you can 100% use a garlic press without peeling the cloves. If it's a huge clove or you stuff a few in, it can explode backwards a little instead. Give it another whirl, it saves so much time if you're already using a press.

is there a recipe for the tzatziki sauce
@TheGriddleGuys2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, yes, this video has my tzatziki recipe in it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXy3g3age9B_i7s to save you time I typed it out. As much full fat Greek yogurt as you plan to make. Peel and seed cucumbers, then shred them on the large grater size of a box shredder. After they are shredded, use cheesecloth or paper towels to squeeze the ever living heck out them to remove moisture. You want about a 50/50 mix volume wise of yogurt to cucumbers. I use at least 1 large cucumber per about 1.5 cups of yogurt Grate 1 clove of garlic on a fine grater so it turns into a puree, then add to the mix add mayonaise to taste. This gives it a richer flavor but be careful, you don't want it to taste like mayo. I start with 1 clove of garlic because when it is raw and grated it is very potent. You can add more but definitely taste as you go! Many people add Dill and Lemon. My personal preference is to leave these out as I don't care for them but the choice is yours. thanks for watching Rob! Cheers -N
