Thanks for this great step-by step tutorial. I will be making one to fit my insulin pump. I think this pattern will work perfectly. So thank you for sharing.

Okay, smack me, I didn't use spandex but used a heavy stretchy material, unfortunately the stretchy part was in wrong direction and didn't fit on my arm, too tight and wouldn't stretch, duh. I know my bad. Hey, It did fit my phone though! So now back to the store to get spandex, Lol!

Thank you for this video. I have been trying to find something on my arm to put treats in while dog training. I put them in my pocket but they get crumbly in there and my dog is constantly pushing at my pocket to try to get to the treats. I think if I put them on my arm, she won’t be able to do that. Would you be able to add an additional pocket layer on the front that would hold some dog treats? I think the lycra would hold the treats in just fine but I can’t figure out how to add an additional pocket. I could use this one for just dog treats but I figure it would be great to also hold my phone and dog treats. Thanks for any help or ideas you can give me.

Hi Elaine- Using it as a treat pouch is a great idea! Here's how I'd add an extra pocket: whatthecraft.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/extrapocket.jpg It's not illustrated very well in the last step of my little diagram, but make sure you unfold the Front piece so it's lying flat when you sew the pocket down. Then you can refold it and proceed with the tutorial as written.

Jeez. My Lycra keeps binding up in the recess below the needle. Sometimes with softer fabrics I use a paper stabilizer and tear it away later. That's not working here either. This is the wrong format to ask questions but, I'm trying to follow this video at the moment. What am I doing wrong?
@smarmyclothes6 жыл бұрын
What type of needle are you using? It should be stretch or ballpoint, and you might need to try a different size. If it's eating the fabric, I'd try a lighter weight needle. Was the machine sewing fine and then started eating the lycra? If so, I'd try a new needle, as the current one might be bent or blunt. There are a million other what-if scenarios I could come up with, so if it doesn't seem to be the needle, I'd need more details: if it's eating the fabric no matter how many layers, or it only eats the fabric when you're first starting out on a seam, does it eat any knit fabric or only lycra, etc.

smarmyclothes It only eats Lycra and other soft or stretchy fabrics. I'll be honest, I'm new and sort of learning as I go. I don't know how to tell you about the needle other than "Singer Titanium Ballpoint 90 14". I don't know if that helps. I tried a single layer and if I go slow enough I can get a few stitches down but, it chews it up again after an inch or so. There's always a bird's nest of thread from the bobbin bound up after it does that.

OK, the "ballpoint" part of the needle is good. That means the end is rounded so it won't snag the knit fibers. But 90/14 might be a little on the heavy side. I'd try an 80/12 or even a 70/10.
