What's the formula at 14:49 if you want to consider excuses, and sick the same as absent so that the percentage will be lower when you track it? (For example: 1 present, 1 sick, 1 excuse, 1 absent, you will only get 25% of the percentage rather than 75%)

please for the total in the summary sheet, you copied column C6 and D6, it was 75%, but when you pasted it, it became 88%. please I don"t understand that aspect 20:49

Ah yes! Good question. So when you copy and paste from the cells in row six to the cells in row 3, the formatting and formulas are copied over. However, the formulas update. Before, the formulas were looking at the numbers in row six. After, the formulas update to look at the numbers in row 3. And since row three is calculating the overall totals, you have different numbers there compared to row six. As a result, you get a different percentage. I hope this helps.

If i wanted to Add an “N/A” section on the drop down with Y N X, where it does not count towards the percentage total, how do i add that to the formula?

That's a good question. So pulling this off is possible, but you will have to do two things. Adjust the data validation for all cells with dropdowns to include the new option. Then you'd have to update the formulas to account for this change. Unfortunately, this is beyond the scope of a comment reply. I'm glad that you got it all to work! 😊👍 You ask a great question, but there isn't a quicky easy answer unfortunately. What you are asking is definitely possible, but it will take some work. You can always add more sheets and rename them to Jan-2020, etc. However, the tricky part is updating the formulas on the summary page. Putting these formulas together is something that can't be explained with just a comment response unfortunately. This is amazing, I have been looking for a way to track my employees attendance outside of checking my text messages from my guys. Thank you! Is there a way to add in a tardy column to attendance, or would that screw up the percentages? Is there an easy way to do that after I have created this in full?

Thanks for watching! It's so cool to hear that you can put this template to such good use! And that's a great question. So one thing you could do is use the excused absence column as a tardy column instead. That would be the easiest thing to do. Now if you want that extra column, it would take quite a bit of work to modify the template to include it. The easiest time to include it would have been at the beginning. I'm so sorry that this is the case.

@@spreadsheetlife Understood! So I could not copy the formula into an extra column on the Jan-Dec pages and again on summary, then add that 4th option to the Pull down bar on days? If you are at all willing, I could start over and rewatch the vidoe and add that in where the time would be right to do so. Thanks for the help!

Right. I mean, you could, but then you have to update things like conditional formatting on every sheet, double check your formulas, make the required changes there. It's definitely possible, but quite tedious if you're not super familiar with the template. I tell you what, since you've already built it once, send me an email at info@spreadsheetlife.com. this is very useful and clear to follow. thank you. but my percentage column is not properly working in the summary sheet. I have done exactly as you have shown but my C column (that reflects the D column in numbered percentage) shows up as ###### if there is any data on it. if there is no data, it just shows up as 0%. it works fine for the monthly sheets but I cant seem to find the problem for the summary sheet. could you please help?

Where are you located? Depending on your location, your version of Excel may require you to use semicolons instead of commas. Give it a try. It might help.

I have a very niche question. We have students in one level - but each level has four classes. Is there a way to set this up for each class but give the totals in Summary? Ie. Oct - grammar, reading, writing, listening. I am the director of a program, and I want to see the student's overall attendance across all courses. And one sheet per level for the teachers. I know I am asking a lot. Just trying to find a solution. Thank you! This video was a huge help already!

Let's say I need to take attendance 3 days a week. Tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays. The other days are free days. Could I just add an extra attendance option like 'yes', 'no', 'excused' and call it 'free' and just use the same formula's as shown for the other options or would you reccomend building a different template altogether? I'm not very experienced with Excel I'm afraid... Thanks in advance!

You can actually just leave all of the other days blank. This will not affect the overall results, and you can just mark the Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with 'Yes' and 'No'. At least this is how I would go about it. I hope this helps.
