WOW 😮 That crackle paste effect looks fantastic! You've definitely given me a whole heap of ideas to use the crackle paste, as others have mentioned it could work quite well for an ice theme as well. I loved the opening shot where you blended the diorama in with the desert background. Looking forward to your next project Kathy 😉

Painting the base with bright red, orange and yellow, sealing with pva, adding the crackle paste and lightly misting with black ink before setting it aside, gives a fantastic volcanic/lava effect.

Brilliant! The sparser the setting and composition, the fewer the details, the more difficult it is to achieve interest and realism - but you accomplished that and much more. The choice of having the little man's arms in those positions adds just a touch of humor without crossing the "cuteness" line. Kudos!

Oh no when youngster Towan 🧒 says, "You've definitely given me a whole heap of ideas to use the crackle paste," we in the OLD guard will be left on the side of the road mumbling.🧓 However, Luke is spot on, "That crackle paste effect looks fantastic!" I'm considering a dry river bed or a desolated farm field. Like the 1930's or 40's dust bowl days. Kathy, I would think you could even marry your Mandalorian to this desert scene. I don't recall the planet from STAR WARS. But the scape has many similarities. Marvelous job. One question. At about 7:30 to 8:00 mins in you used some sort of fabric based material as a Millatt Pallett. What was that material? And Towan was correct, AGAIN, your backscene in the opening shot was Masterful.😎 EVERYONE PLEASE STAY HEALTHY, STAY SAFE, STOP THE SPREAD, WEAR A MASK, GET THE INJECTION WHEN YOU CAN, KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE. BUT MOST OF ALL SHARE YOUR LOVE WITH THOSE YOU DON'T KNOW AS WELL AS THOSE YOU DO. 💖💝 Jim in the U.S.A.

Excellent! It really looks like a dried up desert. Small point - if you seal one side of a piece of wood you must treat the other side the same otherwise the imbalance in humidity will warp it - I'll make that a promise!

Hello there! Incredible effect. That crackle really works wonders! Exactly what we need for our current project. But, we need to cover the area of more than 4 square meters, which would be quite expensive to do with that pre-made crackle. So maybe you could elaborate some recipes of a DIY crackle? So far we've tried a couple of mixtures, but to no luck. As I understand, the crackle consists of some bonding agent (like white glue), something to give it a volume (like plaster), and something that shrinks from dehydration (which I don't know what it is)).
@KathyMillatt Жыл бұрын
Good luck with your project but im sorry, I don’t know how to do 4sqm!

Excellent diorama Kathy, with maybe just a 𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑦 dash of humour. One thing I thought about was 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 he had come from. It doesn't look like he'd be leaving footprints, or even much of a trail, but is there some way of indicating a wee bit of his journey? Just a thought.😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.

Have you ever tried glueing sand on your diorama between the cracks, then either spray or brush on the desire color?

No, because I was worried about filling in the depth on the cracks too much. Pigments don't add a lot of depth.

cool video. just want to share a little tip for removing supports.
@TKs3DPrints3 жыл бұрын
do this before you cure the model. use a hair dryer on the supports they will warm up and then start to warp and they will brush away from the model leaving no puck marks on the model. also do all your modifications again before you cure the model. as it's easier to work with and the model has some flex and less likely to break when using a dremel. :)

Thanks. Great tip and I’ll try next time.
