I've never seen the fleece/ flannel attached after the buckram has been assembled. it makes it quite complicated and fiddly. it all looked really good though.

Hah! Yeah, I bet it is easier to attach it before assembling the buckram, although I can see a benefit from holding off, too, as I was able to hide my assembly issues by adding the felt after the fact. Thank you!

Agreed!! Well worth the money I spent. I would have gotten so frustrated trying to sew on all those weird pieces.
