I am involved in dog rescue and I use onesies intact, for the little ones. When putting one on the dog, snap the two outer snaps and leave the center snap undone. That's for the dog's tail. The onesie stays put and keeps the dog warmer. When taking the dog out to peepee, unsnap one of the outer snaps, bring the 2 parts around the opposite leg, snap it, and that creates a safe opening for a male or female dog to peepee. When finished, undo that moved snap and refasten around the original leg. I have shared this idea with lots of vet offices to recommend to owners of small dogs who have had surgery anywhere on the body to prevent licking the incision. Cheap and effective protection.

What size baby onesie for 13 pound chi terrier mix. She has a skin condition and thin fur so she love clothes but we are having a hard time finding them for a fair price. I don’t have kids or no anyone that does but this would be awesome.

For this project, we used a onesie that's 12 month in size. And if you watch the video you can see how they fit Ginger (8 lbs.) and Leon (14 lbs.). So the 12 month size should work just fine for your sweetie. Amazon has some fun sets of onesies for under $20 that would give you lots of outfits that won't break the bank. Here's a set we like: amzn.to/3zOVcFd Hope this helps! It's a fun craft project your little fashionista would love.

@@HoundHuggerDIY I made my first shirt for Luna. Was out thrifting and found one I liked! I chose to cut mine more like a typical dog shirt and use hem bond(super glue can come undone in the dryer 😉) to finish it up. She loves it. Thank you so much for the inspiration and tips. This will save us a lot of money.

Yes, Fabri-Tac holds up pretty well in the wash. You have to let the glue dry for at least 24 hours before washing anything. And the more glue you use, the better it holds up in the wash. But it works well! It makes us smile from ear to ear, knowing you like all the fun things we do for pups! Thanks a bunch for being a fan of Hound Hugger DIY!

For male puppies especially I’d suggest making the underneath shorter, otherwise they will pee all over it. Easy tutorial for beginners. Thanks for sharing

Sorry to tell you ladies this. You will need to tack down the sleeves. Your dog will get stuck.

Great tip! Depending on the size, tacking down the sleeves could be very helpful.
