SMB Capital I knew it lol! That level 2 looks awesome! I guess the only way to get that platform, is to work for you one day. Going on eight months of consistent training, learning, doing well, doing bad, ups and downs, wins and losses. I am definitely a much better trader than I was eight months ago, But this is perhaps the hardest thing I have ever pursued. My ultimate goal is to work with you. I have no clue how long that will take, but I know not giving up is a major key

🧡💛💚💙 Reading the Tape is one of the most useful skills a trader should have. It may look daunting at the start to newcomers but there are timeless principles to remember: > Size only matters when the volume & volatility is picking up (momentum). (You can't just play deadzones using the tape because you will get chopped up by noise) > Always check for how a market is reacting to big orders around key levels or new price discovery areas 🧡💛💚💙

Love the lesson! Learning to read Level 2 was was one of the first things I was taught. I learned from a scalper. It's a must for intraday trades and position entry, even for longer term holds. Part of the required, foundational knowledge. Nice work.

Scalping always was and will be a profitable technique. Since 2003 I scalped from time to time, and it didn’t disappoint whichever market was. But it sucks so much energy that people keep scalping only for one year or so. Then they appear completely squeezed.

I have heard some traders say that big asks/offer are a bullish sign as sellers are waiting for price to move up. Is this contradictory to what was said in this video? The person in the video is saying that big asks that are moving lower is bearish, this makes sense. But when I flip my first statement, big bids being a bearish, this contradicts the video, as the trader says that big bids have shown up etc so he will exit his position. Are both statements true? Big bids means the price could move lower, but it also means, when this price is reached, there will be support. So is it bearish until the big bid price is hit, at which point it will become support? In a nut shell, does a big bid indicate something bearish, and vice versa? Thank you
@dinosaurperson23494 жыл бұрын
Also, will my statement have different implications if the stock is SSR? As big bid may no longer as bearish as you cant short on bid. Thanks

For ex: vix at 12-15 long delta swing trades 1-2 weeks ; vix at 16-20; more momentum + credit sprd sales; vix at 20 - 30, even more momentum, shorter trading time frames, etc...your take would be interesting. Confused about SSR explanation. Short Sale Restriction applies to Short Borrowers only allowed on offer. Share Owners who are "trapped" can still hit the bid. Wonder why your seller showed such large size stepping down on offer, knowing it would spook buyers.

Thank you MIke and Nano for a really informative tape reading video. Im getting better at my tape reading and scalping skills and have to thank SMB and their traders for helping to make this happen. Funny how I fought learning to tape read for months and now will not consider scalping without having the tape in front of me. A lot faster than just watching the charts, though I still make the rookie mistakes. Have a question. In your opinion what is the best level 2 platform out there? Not totally blown away by TOS though it is functional. I like the way Nano has his set up and I have a feeling this may be an inhouse screen setup available to SMB only. Any help on this will be appreciated and please keep the education coming. Once again thank you.

Andy, we encourage traders to record their screens (especially on the open or when a stock might be at a critical inflection point) they can then go back and review which is helpful to the development process for a trader

Thank you so much for you amazing trader content. In your books you mentioned a video series that GMan recorded for tape reading. Question. Can we record any tapes (from any range of stocks) & review them to improve tape reading skill? Or we have to record specific stock tape that only met our stock selection criteria?
@smbcapital4 жыл бұрын
I'd record the stocks you are trading for the day. We like to have our traders record the open and then any stocks that might have big setups during the day or at key inflection areas. After the fact you can see where the big moves occurred and if you have the tape just go back to before the move happened and you can observe how it played out

We hire traders and then they take all the required training (we cover all the costs) We only hire a small class normally so often people who can't be in nyc or commit full time can train with us online at their own pace. We often hire a lot of traders through this process who show a solid track record. We also get to know these traders on a personal basis which is helpful to selecting those that fit well with SMB.
