Here is a neat and easy project on how to make a chicken egg incubator. Doesn't take long to make. The eggs will hatch in 21 days. I give you all the guidelines for successfully incubating the chickens including what to do and how to make the incubator.

This is a nice Idea, And for the record, i live in Morocco (North-west of Africa) And there's a actually a way to recognize the fertilized egg by wrapping your fist around and direct it toward the sun, So the sunshine goes through the egg and then to your eye and you'll see a little something there, use an unfertilized egg to see the difference, This method is not new, it's really old and people are using it for a very long time...

It's called candling (candle-ing) you can also use flashlights and such.

Thats called candling, many people use it now. But you can only see it when it is a few days old. There is this Indian trick for finding a fertile egg, you keep your eggs in a bowl of water and the ones that sink are fertile and the ones that float are infertile.

@TheKiller641 its, ok to leave the box cracked open for a short period to get the temp back down. But not long, you will lose the humidity. Poke holes in it to get the temp and humidity right. I should do another vid of Moe, he hatched and is full grown now.

I have made a couple of home made incubators. You can also connect to light bulb / Lamp up to a dimmer switch. Then you can control the heat a bit better. I did hatch some. But to be honest you really need it to run through a thermostat. I used a fish tank heater and just took it apart. Because if the temperature goes more than one degrees above or below the recommended temperature the eggs will die. And always use more than one light bulb inside the incubator. Because then if one blows then the other one will keep the eggs alive for longer than if there was no heat at all. Great video. Thanks
@epicfantasy
@epicfantasy 13 жыл бұрын
@applepilgrim1 Depends on your incubator and how well it maintains heat. Use whatever wattage bulb will work. 60 watt bulb probably will work. But adjust this as needed!

Hey guys, I made my own incubator for the first time and it totally worked, I have 5 chickens now that I incubated myself, there would have been more but I screwed it up in the beginning of the process by leaving them alone with the temperature too high, but other than that it was a success. THANKS GOD!

@TBL8oD yes, you reallly have to be able to see inside. You could use some kind of durable clear plastic rather than glass though. Plexiglas or lexan would work.

@rosered84 hmmm, maybe a second dish. Also you can wrap the inside with aluminum foil. This will seal it. Probaby not need the holes anymore which will increase the humidity. Try a smaller light bulb too, this will reduce the need for holes too.

@TheJoseboii Try a stronger bulb. but first check for leaks in your incubator. That is the most common problem.

@BoomBeepBoomBeep bulbs are very durable if you simply leave them on. They almost never blow out. The big strain on them is the turning on and off. You should be good because this bulb stays on. I live in the city (NY) and of course there aren't any farms around. My son (5yr old) had asked me one day can he warm up the eggs that are in the refrigerator because he wants to have some chicks around. I told him no I don't think a chick is going to hatch since the eggs been cold for so so long. He disagree with me and wanted to do an experiment. So I came across your video this month and actually made the incubators the way you had done it. I thought (I must be out of my mind for doing something that not going to happen) but for my son this is his first experiment so I let it be. We took 3 eggs from the fridge and gently place them into the incubators. Long story short HE MADE IT HAPPEN! It's been 22 days and I woke up around 5AM hearing birds outside my window, they were so loud I couldn't fall back to sleep. I so happen to get up and walk by my son room and hear scratching sounds coming from the incubators. I was kind of nervous to look inside but I look anyways. I couldn't believe my eyes! HE MADE IT HAPPEN! I now have 3 living chicks in my apartment! and I have no idea how an egg that been in the fridge turned into an chick! i meam i just bought the eggs from the supermarket. I woke my son up and he scream for joy....I still have 3 living chicks in my apartment and honestly I can't have them here and a farm is no where near me. is there any advice to give? I can't believe this has happen, I can't stop smiling either. There super cute! and this time he wants to make an video of how he done it and explain himself. but any advice on the chicks? and what to type of food to feed them?

@beastlychic1 Styrofoam will be much better because it will hold the heat. A bigger cooler probably means a bigger light bulb. A bigger dish of water or a second dish of water will help to maintain the humidity. I wouldn't do that big a batch though. As a first try I would go smmaller. It will be less difficult.
