Welcome back! John and Janos I love this. Thanks to you, I did my first wedding!! My son got married in a provincial park on Lake Ontario, which was really lovely. I brought a bucket of flowers that were sold at the end of laneways of farms and used them for my new daughter-in-law's bouquet and my son's boutoniere. They wanted everything to be natuural. My new daughter-in-law is an artist, very fond of colour, so I used my knowledge of spiraling learned from my teacher, John, and made a handle of lace for both--my son's feature flower was a snapdragon! Thank you so much for making me confident enough--thankfully my debut was an easy one! So her bouquet was more like this one than the traditional floral style, I guess you really are my teacher!

😊 I’m so glad to hear everything went well, and thank you for your kind feedback. I would love to see some pictures ( FlowerJoos@gmail.com ) and it sounds like the perfect selection for the bride and the setting. Mixed farm flower buckets can have a really exciting mix - and it’s good to be local and sustainable. Hope you make more designs - as you say just try it, be confident and see what happens! 😀🌼

I'm not gonna lie...I had to fast forward a few times because I was just dying to see the end result! And I kept thinking of the word "funky" and then you said the same word! That last piece you put in for movement and used glue on really made it. L❤VE it, John. You are soooooo creative!

I always use cold glue on the stem & whilst it doesn’t set it creates a stickier surface so helps stems stay secure. Mags the gilded lily Lancashire ❤
@FlowerJoos Жыл бұрын
Thank you Mags! 😊 so that’s into the wet foam as well?
@margaretscard-m4x Жыл бұрын
@@FlowerJoos yes - been using this method for 20 years. I wire in the long stems & run a thin line of glue along the stem not on the stem end so the stem can still take up water … works very well 👍

Ohhh never expected to get a reply :-) but yes, been making wedding bouquets for 20 years & if a cascade / shower, I'd wet the oasis holder maybe Tuesday for a Saturday wedding (to ensure some drying out) & wire the longest lengths as you do through the foam & loop back but for the shorter stems a thin line of cold glue on the stem edge (not the end so as not to "bung" up the end) & it works a treat - wait until the cold glue starts to go opaque & in you go stays very secure :-)
@FlowerJoos Жыл бұрын
Fantastic 😀 thanks for sharing your tip - it’s good to have different approaches up our sleeves 😀 even for hand-tied bouquets I find I do them in a couple of different ways rather than just one way all the time 🌼

Really great to see you. Any chance that youve compiled a blueprint ruffdraft for your book ?
@FlowerJoos Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 not yet - but what style of book - basics, coffee table? One book only would have to cover a lot of content. I’m intrigued what would appeal to people.
@lynnemcnab3093 Жыл бұрын
What would appeal to me is instructional sketches and then beautiful photographs. A section on the basics and then a section on "enjoying the flowers, and getting creative" I think both elements--and include your personality.@@FlowerJoos

I like the modernity of the bouquet but I do not get the long holder… it seems very long. Having seen you at a demonstration in Aberdeen a number of years ago I know you are tall!! Good to see a different design though.
@FlowerJoos Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 it was long - I did think of shortening it but it wasn’t easily changed. You are right though - maybe our designs reflect us all a little - tall, or short, or colourful etc? 😀

Kermit chrys look lovely but they shatter so easy also i never soak my holder i wire in trailing greenery and flowers then glue in top flowers, let bouquet sit for a wee while thrn give it a good spray seems to work ok.😂😂
@FlowerJoos Жыл бұрын
They can shatter - but the pop of green is a nice touch. That’s interesting your method, but the glue would stop the flowers accessing the water source? With a bridal bouquet it’s all about security though, and it just needs to last the day 😀🌼
@joyceflowershed Жыл бұрын
@FlowerJoos agree I thought this also but so far beern ok although will say i usually do all wired for shower bouquets. Your bouquet was gorgeous by the way 🏴😁
