GENIUS! I've spent 2 days trying to mastermind something & kept failing. Thank you so much for posting this. 😊 (I improvised on materials & tools. Using what I had available: skinny pvc pipe - in place of wood Rubber o-rings to accommodate thickness of marker to fit pvc pipe Electric Dremel - in place of drill.. easier for me to handle Cut-to-fit giant eraser to hold the needle point) But it worked! Thanks again!

I liked it so much I went out and made one. Instead of drilling for a sharpie; I cut a couple of shallow grooves on the table saw so I can hold a carpenters pencil. Finer line than a sharpie, no permanent mark and I've got lots of them available. Great idea, thank you.

Wow, that was fast! I just published the video. Glad to hear it was an inspiration. Good idea for use with pencils.

Just happened I have been struggling with large radii lately and this project filled the bill nicely. French curves weren't working and I didn't want to go to LV for trammel points. My favourite features; simple, effective easy and cheap.

Thanks, easy and inexpensive! Making one today so I can make a circular parquet table!

GREAT vid, shop and no nonsense gang-bang background music or unnecessary babble. Glad to see u r a blue tape user. DON'T know HOW I got along without that stuff my first 25 years- NOW, I'm making up for it- have rolls stashed EVERYWHERE!! (NO, I don't sell it)
@Makebuildmodify3 жыл бұрын
Ha! I wish I sold it. It's gotta be a cash cow for 3M.

Really cool build I'm sizing it down so it'll work for school (I'm the kid you made somewhat popular with the steampunk flash drives)

Pentagons are fum. If you want to discribe your pentigon what size do you call it. Do you go by the flats or the size of the circle or what?
@Makebuildmodify2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I guess whatever you are building or making is the deciding factor.

I’m sure some of the mathematicians on Numberphile would love this for certain geometry videos. Maybe you should make one for however large markers they use and send it to Brady Haran?
@Makebuildmodify5 жыл бұрын
Haha! That would be great. I love Brady's videos!

Make Build Modify Then please send him a pair of compasses, so that Simon Pampena or James Grime or whoever makes a geometry-heavy video next can have something that’s more visible against the brown paper. 😁
