If you ride your PWC jetski in weedy lakes or rivers with floating debris, you've got to have an impeller jam removal tool. In this how-to video we show you how to make this handy-dandy tool ...3ftDeep style!
3ftDeep Online Shop: 3ftdeepsports.c...
3ftDeep Branded Merchandise: teespring.com/...
These guys are making our tool and selling it, if you're interested: oceaninlet.ear...
7/16" steel rod: www.amazon.com...
NOTE: We now use 1/2" aluminum rod instead of the steel rod, so no longer need the heat shrink cover. It also prevents rusting!

The tool saved our bacon last ride. Impeller jam (piece of wood) on Chris' machine on a dropping tide. Without the tool, we'd stuck out in the ocean for at least 3 or 4 hours. Don't leave home without it!

Thanks! I've got the tool built. Very easy to do thanks to your directions. Happily I had a tape measure, a vice, a saw and a bench grinder available. I made do with a slightly thinner piece of round stock, but plenty stiff so it should work. I'll let you know how (easy) it comes out.

@@3ftDeepChannel Got it out! A flat chunk of plastic (from our 20 year old Jet-Dock drive-on floating dock!) caught on the leading edge of the impeller. I couldn't see any damage. I did have to use a triangular file to work a sharper/smaller point into the tool; my old grinding wheel's edges were too worn and rounded to do the job. Now to get the dock fixed and that bad boy back to the water. Thanks again.

Great tool, I have had PWC’s for 20 years and never thought about a tool like this. Kind of a dumb question, but how have you used this? I have carried 10mm socket to remove grate, but some have through bolts making it much harder. I looked at previous video without reading anything. Have you had success with boat in water and blindly doing by feel? Or primarily a tilt up on the beach under direct vision, or is this a trailer tool?
@3ftDeepChannel
@3ftDeepChannel Жыл бұрын
Definitely not a trailer tool. We’ve used it quite a few times by tilting it on its side and fishing out the object (usually a small piece of wood) while someone helps to hold the ski on its side. I think I’ve used it twice to fish out weeds that jammed up the intake grate path while it was still floating in the lake. That was “by feel”. You get a bit wet, though. Safe riding!

Hi, great video and tool, I live in Australia and it’s too difficult to buy and ship this tool to me in Australia, also I don’t have the tools to make one myself but I can get a local metal fabrication shop to make it for me, could you possibly provide written instructions/ specifications that I could provide to the metal fabricators rather than having to watch your video, I just bought my Seadoo gti130 and got a wood chip caught in the impeller on my first time out. Okay now but I need your tool for the future, thank you in advance.

Why not use aluminum rod instead? No rust to deal with and surely strong enough for any conceivable obstruction.

Great idea! We actually did this in v2 of the tool (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIa8onueprl0jq8si=wNq1WnsGPALxCliT). We weren’t sure if aluminum would be strong enough, but by going to a larger diameter it seems to work fine.

Hey man, awesome video I'll have to make one! I just bought two new gtr 215s last year. I was wondering if you could help me out, I'm pretty new with the skis and watch alot of your videos. I have mold and mildew under the seats of both skis and like I said they're pretty new. The seats are still real heavy and saturated with water, anything I can do with getting the mold out and drying the foam? They're stored in a garage and I try to remember to leave everything open after I ride. Any help would be awesome! Thanks in advance!
@3ftDeepChannel
@3ftDeepChannel 7 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear the problem hasn't been fixed; the GTRs are notorious for mold growing under the seat, and discoloring the vinyl. My white vinyl has pink, blue and yellow patches all over it. I've tried everything to get the stains out, and nothing works. I've heard some people have had success making a warranty claim (i.e. they got a new seat) through their dealer. Whether or not you're able to get a new seat, the water needs to drain after each ride (although it doesn't seem to do so fast enough on the machine). I suggest removing the seat completely and leaving it vertical to drain either forward or backward toward the black vinyl sections (the black vinyl doesn't stain). See which way drains the fastest. Don't leave your seat standing on the front corners though, as they can break. You may have to hang it up. Good luck!
