I think there's scripts for RPG Maker that emulate Pokemon, basically you have small maps that are connected, and you are transported to the next map seemlessly without noticing. It allows to have way less lag and an illusion of an open world à la pokémon without having too smal a world, or a square one for that matter and you don't have to block off parts of the map for teleportation. I think all you needed to do was put in the screen, and have a two tiles thick line of each map be a copy paste of the map connected to it (I'm guessing that's what makes it look like the maps are all connected)

Yes, I used something like that in Life in mini town but didn't like the fact that you can escape enemies and encounters by switching maps.

Also to deal with lag keep your maps empty and spawn in events based on where the player is. right now I only have that for the random encounters and crafting materials but in the future will replace all events with spawned in events mainly doors and story events

Hey ! Thanks for your video and your work. I have a very dumb question. Since all those maps in those squares are different maps, how can you have this picture with all the maps connected ?

my map is one big map, I made them on on new map page and then pasted each piece into the main world map
