What about Router USB Print server? I have a Router with USB that have attached an Epson Printer. How do I connect as an Ubuntu printer?
@MorphSX17 жыл бұрын
You need so see your router's manual on how to connect/enable printers on that router and on which address to access them. Then you need to add a network printer in your OS. You don't need the procedure shown in the video.

HI I am just a beginner. As i watched ur video, there is a part i dont understand which is where should i connect the printer. Directly to the server or to one of the client. I mean if i connected to the client i need to run two machines like printer connected client and server in order to use printer.

I liked your tutorial. Just one question, what do you suggest, say you wanna keep the DHCP active, and use a Dynamic DNS. How would you edit eth0?
@goguda5510 жыл бұрын
You can leave the network file unedited then. Your server's hostname will act as a Dynamic DNS :)

You should put the shell command in the video description!
@mon0theist_tv6 жыл бұрын
Yeah but how do you actually share the USB printers so that they're discoverable on the network? I've done all of this but no hosts on my network can see the USB printer. In this video you left the printers as unshared.

Great video - steps are clearly set out - I just had to pause it when it came to editing the various config files to make sure that I had the right path and file name - it will make good use of an Odroid U3 that was sitting in my unused box of micro-processors

Hi, I have an old linux laptop which has mint installed on it. I have a printer and i want that printer to be shared on to other different windows computers. I want to use that old linux laptop as a wireless print server to share the printer with the network. How is this possible? Is there any tutorial for this?
@kasenratliff18326 жыл бұрын
You should just install Ubuntu Server Edition on the laptop, then use this guide

Could you please make a video on how to make a Ubuntu MySQL server
@donkeebaIs10 жыл бұрын
Okay, I am a complete newb/noob about Linux, file servers, print servers, and networking in general, but couldn't a Linux distro with a GUI be installed, then just share the printer on the network?
@goguda5510 жыл бұрын
You definitely could! However, samba would still need to be configured to share the printer to Windows computers (it doesn't support CUPS's printer sharing; that's more for Linux and Mac). Also, it's generally better not to have a GUI on a dedicated server because it makes it lest secure. If you just want your everyday desktop to share the printer, then by all means, do what you suggested. :)

@goguda5510 жыл бұрын
Martin Jørgensen I've considered cutting it out, but for the people building an Ubuntu server from scratch for their first time primarily for one use such as this, it's probably helpful to them. I know the first time that I watched a server video, I was happy to see the installation process there just to make sure I wasn't messing anything up. You're always welcome to skip that part of the video if you don't need it :)

4 minutes for explaining how to install Ubuntu?
@kasenratliff18326 жыл бұрын
You get Rufus or any other drive utility, then you format a USB stick with the program, then you plug it into the computer and start it. It should automatically boot into the installation if its already Linux, but if it is Windows, you might have to go into the Bios to change the first boot priority from Internal Hard Drive, or whatever its set to, then replace it with Removable Media, or something like that.
