Hi, I have subscribed to your channel and I just love it. Your clear and concise instructions are great. I am a beginner still. I do have a question about this post. The little yellow dress is just adorable and it looks like you lined it, or layered?? Do you have a video demonstrating how one could sew a lining in a dress that perhaps your "perfect" material is a bit thin? Especially for a young girl. Thank you for all your helpful videos, I have made a few things following your instructions!!
@olivewoo522 Жыл бұрын
could you also take a plastic straw and tape it to the side of your sewing machine just above the foot area? You thread the piping through it, and it goes under the needle. I think i saw something like this on a reel.

Just came to your channel thinking maybe I'd find a new video 😂 your blog was the first blog I started reading when I began sewing. I'm still so new to it. Anyway, wanted to drop a video or blog entry request (not sure if there's already one up)...of how to pick fabric! Or even read fabric tags. I always find myself at the fabric store feelings so overwhelmed by the amount of fabric and I have no idea what to pick for certain projects!
@HeatherNicola6 жыл бұрын
..like your comment - and yes, great idea - I asked my fabric store the other day to tell me about the markings and it turns out the row of numbers in circles, denotes how many colour options there are in that particular design, hence the reason they are marked with the base colour - now I know what colours I can get in that design! Worth knowing! ;-)

It's really just an embellishment....to add a bit of decor or a pop of color around the edges. It looks really cool to use piping on more 3-D kind of bags, that have more dimension than a flat tote bag.

+Kelley Selby I have a Baby Lock brand machine, called: LYRIC. You can read all about here: www.danamadeit.com/2014/11/my-new-sewing-machine-and-how-to-pick-your-own.html The price varies depending on your local sewing machine store. So look up a local dealer in your area (you can find this on the baby lock site babylock.com/ or with a google search) and you can ask them over the phone. They often run in-store specials or might knock some off the price for you if you go into the store.

I would multiply the diameter X 3 with thicker cording. (just a math thing, as pi is 3.14). Otherwise your seam allowance may be too narrow to catch securely.
