Wow. Your Stinger gets OTA updates. See if there's a newer update that you can manually apply? Go to update.kia.com and follow the instructions.

Actually just figured it out! Before you connect to Android Auto if you're in the home screen you click on the device connections icon. Then you scroll down to where it says phone projection settings and tap on that. Then there is a checkbox for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay where the default is checked to use split screen on Android Auto. Uncheck that and it automatically takes the split screen away. Good stuff and thank you for the help!

It's already built in in 3rd party Android head unit (via Bluetooth). The lastest android auto update there is even for EV vehicle.

The USB-A port on the EV6 is wonky so the connection isn't stable. I tried multiple Wireless Android Auto adapters but the connection kept dropping.

So here's a weird one: I tried this on my phone last night and it worked - thank you! BUT I did the same operation on my wife's phone (which is the EXACT SAME PHONE - Galaxy A54) and it didn't work (on the EXACT SAME CAR). Sorry, not a Kia... a brand new Mazda CX-50 that we picked up from the dealer yesterday.

HELP!! I spoke too soon! When I concluded that it had "worked" for my phone, I meant it had gone to full screen. But I neglected to test navigation. THAT now does not work! Somehow this hack seems to have messed up communication between Google Maps and Android Auto(?) Specifically, the map displays beautifully but all I get is "there's a problem with the connection" when I try to navigate! Worse, I cannot figure out how to undo the hack. Pressing the radio button again does not unselect it. Please tell me how to undo this! I'm beginning to hate Android Auto.

That's odd. Google maps work just fine for me after making them full screen. For the change to take effect, you have to unplug the cable and plug it back in.

Unfortunately that didn't work on Tucson 2022 EU model I still see name of the connected phone on the right side of the screen. Phone is Samsung s21 FE. Any thoughts? Or full screen is not available on the current vehicle? Screen size is 10.3-inch.

Just saw a comment below that it's working only with Google maps. I haven't tried to run Google maps and was using Waze. Will try tonight with G-Maps.

I'm not sure, I didn't do any updates. Software is usually maintained by the dealer. Probably it is not the latest as dealer never informed me of any updates since I purchased the car.

No. This is done through android auto that's the onboard infotainment system.

Cool video but the problem with Android Auto is that only Google Maps may be used full screen. You can not do that with Spotify.

What about the head unit for a Toyota Venza? My screen is pretty large, and it always shows Google maps on the right side of my screen. I would rather not see it all the time. Does this help with that?

Sorry I don't. You'll see in the comments that in case of Kiss, people were able to update the infotainment system which resolved the issue. I don't know if you can do that with your VW or not.

Unfortunately for me this didn't work in my Genesis G70. I changed the resolution settings to allow car and phone to negotiate and I still have quarter of my screen wasted with the android auto logo

So chek your version, if it shows older then 2.0, then there is your problem. Im going to visit the mercedes dealer to update and i will comment if it helped
