I’m so torn on slow juicing and the oxidation. I think slow juicing to me is more beneficial despite the blending without air, I feel like it’s just way too fast and still “heats up” the ingredients. Thoughts? Certainly good for smoothies!

Surely, you can run a vacuum blender TOO long, and it will heat up the juice. Is it bad? I think oxygen is WORSE than some heat. Heat may release additional nutrients. Of course, each method of juicing has its own set of pros and cons. I can tell you at first I did not want to accept vacuum blending as a better way to juice. I still would use my slow auger juicer for juicing greens, and then press out the pulp in the pure to acheive 25%-30% more yield. Now I use the vacuum blender and there is no need to use two juicers. The main benefit is because it is ground under vacuum, it stores EVEN better than a slow juice. But if you are comfortable in the way you juice, stick to it. That being said, IMO this is an upgrade, but it is also a new process, that may not work on some recipes, and some people will not like juicing in this method. It took me a while to get use to the process, but now I find it easier.

Great video. How do you clean the bag? I’ve heard from some people that blending destroys the enzymes and ruins the juice. Do you have any information about that
@discountjuicers3 жыл бұрын
I spray the bag down with a high pressure spray from the garden hose, without any scrcubbing. You can also use the high pressure spray in your kitchen sink that will take a bit longer. the issue with blending is traditional blending without pulling out the extra oxygen. Heat can denature enzymes, so its best NOT to overblend. Some juicers can also heat the juice as well. Oxygen is the enemy of juicing, and traditional blenders put the MOST oxygen into the juice, followed by high speed juicers, followed by slow juicers and vacuum juicing puts the least from my testing.

The Greenstar Pro is a juicer I’m considering buying. It’s between that and the Sana 727. How are you liking the Greenstar Pro? I converted my Vitamix into a vacuum blender and to me it’s just not worth it. You put carrots in a juicer and get carrot juice out. You put carrots in a blender and you have to add water and then the juice is diluted. I’d rather drink and taste and the pure juice. Plus it’s quite a bit of work squeezing the juice through a nut milk bag. The pores are very small and it takes more work than you think to squeeze the juice out. Any fibrous or hard vegetable you would put through a juicer you have to add water to in a blender, or make sure there’s plenty of watery vegetable in the carafe.

@Michael A I'm with you. I've tried the but milk bag and I don't like it. It took time, dozens of hours of reviews and a lot of money but I'm so glad I did. I've always worked hard and payed bills on time but now two years battling cancer I have 10's of $1,000's of debt collections that could have been avoided if it payed more attention to my health. The money I've spent on my juicers are pocket change compared to hospital bills and losing my health. I have three machines. Each serve a purpose. For protein shakes and morning blends like Strawberries, blueberries, oranges and such I use the DYNAPRO VACUUM BLENDER. My two daily Vegetables are Carrots & Celery. I add things like Lemon, Apple and Spinach. I have two Juicers. The GREENSTAR PRO And the DANA 727. YOU'LL LOVE THEM BOTH BOTH, if your serious about nutrition health and make effort and time for prep a part of your Lifestyle. Ok... The SANA 727 is for when I'm just juicing a single glass or two or three. It's quicker. The GREENSTAR PRO I got for bulk juicing. I juice 25lb bag of carrots at a time. Yielding about 16 12oz jars of juice. It's a mess and takes about 90 minutes but we'll worth it. I vacuums seal them in 16 once mason jars. Use Lemon. It keeps the juice fresh in the jars for about a week. I would suggest the SANA 727. You can feed the whole carrot but I've found its worth it to go ahead and dice into pieces and slowly drop them in.

Good video John but the process seems rather redundant. Since oxygen is the enemy it’s great that you vacuum it out but you then have to take the time to squeeze through the nut bag into the pitcher and then pour into the mason jar and then vacuum. All the while after coming out of the blender and until it was vacuumed in the mason jar the juice was exposed to air thus lowering and oxidizing the nutrient content. I feel I do just as well with my Tribest Slow Star. I have fine tuned my recipes to make a one pint mason jar of juice . The juice flows right into the jar from the juicer and when full goes immediately to my Food Saver seal and vac machine for vacuuming. The process works well for me and the juice lasts for days on end. Thanks for all you do for the juicing community!
@discountjuicers3 жыл бұрын
Introduction of air into the juice at some point will always happen. I believe the most important time to reduce oxidation is when the cell walls are being broken open, this is what the vacuum blender does. Because of this, there are more antioxidants in the juice when it is no longer under vacuum, so it will store for longer, plus there is less dissolved air in the juice, that slow juicers will put more into than vacuum blending.

i have a biochef 72-4559 vacuum blender (purchased from discount juicers). i have an omega vsj834 . i did my own comparison . i used celery . i biochef vacuum blended and hand squeezed. then did the omega sj834. vacuum blended celery juice was half a shade darker green. both produced about the same amount of juice (i got tired of squeezing and twisting the blendtec nut bag). the taste test won me over. the clear winner was vacuum blending and using the blendtec nutbag. yes, it takes a bit more time and effort. it is worth it to me. my biochef is smaller that the dynapro dps-2050 . my biochef struggled grinding the celery. i did 2 start / stops , had to scrape down sides to achieve total blending. i am probably doing something wrong. i would like to cut the Pure juicer in half. i only want that press action side. any chance of that happening? it would go faster with for obvious reasons. i can recommend that blendtec nut bag. it is the best i have ever used and the easiest to clean. any chance of a demo of the all the best vacuum blenders? for speed, grinding ability, and vacuum pressure? i have gained sooo much knowledge from john's videos. i send a very healthy thanks:)

@michaela9798 Жыл бұрын
Yes it would work. You just need to make sure to add enough water so it will blend up. Or have enough watery produce in the blender cut up fairly small so that all the ingredients will blend up. That’s the downside to blending…is that it can’t juice straight carrots in it or straight leafy greens. It will always have to be diluted down. I turned my Vitamix into a vacuum blender and then squeezed the resulting juice through a nut milk bag. It’s more labor intensive than it looks. If you want to do bulk juicing for several days at a time and don’t mind having to dilute down certain produce that you wouldn’t have to with a juicer, then vacuum blending may very well be for you.

How much air is actually being removed from the carafe by the pump? Standard atmospheric pressure at sea level is 29.92 inches of mercury. You stated that the pump pulls 19 inches (or leaves 19 inches?). Does that mean the pump removes approximately 1/3 of the air or approximately 2/3 of the air? And, how come the practical results are so good with much of the air still left in the carafe and mixed with the produce? I wonder how much it would cost to produce a system that really removed almost all the air...probably a great deal more than $600. Great video. I couldn't believe all that produce was blended in only 2 runs and it didn't require any liquid.

I am not a physics major. I do know on my tester that is at 0 at atmospheric conditions, it reaches 20 on a blendtec pump and should reach 19 on the tribest pump based on mfg supplied data. I need to get an adapter to test it. I would say the more air removed the better, personally, but then there are other issues with seals blowing out, etc, etc. Results are good IMO because oxygen is the enemy of juicing. and even removing some of it can make big differences, IMO.

@michaela9798 Жыл бұрын
How are you liking your Pure juicer? As mentioned already, vacuum blending is limited in what it can juice. You can juice anything with the Pure juicer without diluting it down with water. With a blender you are limited. Plus you have the added work and time of hand squeezing the bag, which is more difficult than it looks. I turned my Vitamix into a vacuum blender. I would much rather prefer to have a Pure juicer than a vacuum blender for a host of reasons.

Not everything can be juiced with this system, you need watery vegetables / fruits for it to work. But perfect for green juices.

Does the blender generate heat?? If so how is that one of the best ways to make vegetable and fruit juices????
@discountjuicers3 жыл бұрын
Run any appliance long enough, it will generate heat. The blender will heat up before a slow juicer will, in most cases, so it is important to run the blender the minimum time required (pulse blend) would be optimal to lessen head, if you feel it is detrimental. I believe oxygenation is more detrimental than heat.

John...just got my vitamix vacuum adaptor from you and it works great! I tried my first green juice with it with just cukes and celery before adding darker greens, and I had to vac it, unseal it, pack it down a bit, and vac again to get the blades to mix it. Wanted to avoid the apples, at least for now, so I'll add romaine hearts in the future. Question...will my vac device that came with the vitamix adaptor fit the foodsaver mason jar adapter? Thanks.
@sunlit7773 жыл бұрын
While in theory the vacuum method is great, in practice the puny battery operated pump that Tribest supplies is a marketing gimmick. The vacuum levels it can achieve are nowhere near those required to make a difference in oxidation. It drops oxygen level by 15-20% I guess, and thats way to low to boast of “preventing oxidation”. For this reason Tribest and other manufacturers never give exact specs on what vacuum level their appliance can achieve.

Fr your. videos, thankyouverymuch🤎, I took the leap with the Tribest Personal Glass, only to concur w you. about its limitations and to gratefully concur about vacuum juicing, in this way,with B.'s nutbags. It was the most direct route to seeing--really, to tasting & knowing--for myself. Now, John, when's it coming out❔❕❔ I can't get celery to blend w/o adding liquid to it, in the small Tribest, can I? I watched this video to check..but think it's too narrow. Can you confirm if it's actually possible w/o dilution? 💜💙💜💙

Blendtec in 90 days, if it comes out. There are a few issues at Blendtec at this time that are causing this delay. Furthermore it may end up not coming out due to some internal things happening at blendtec.

The juice yield with slow juicers is very poor for green juices and you produce vast amounts of organic waste.

Hey snowflake, take your whiny meltdown somewhere else. How is being very passionate about the machines that juice or blend and how they all operate and perform, then sharing this detailed, tried and tested information with all who choose to watch hustling? Just because he offers discount links or direct sales that give him a small percentage of money? He does more advertising/exposure for all these machines than the actual manufacturers do! For free? Have you watched him talking about gardening, vegetables, nutrients, juicing, smoothying, trials/studies etc and not see he is very passionate about all aspects of vegetarian health? And I’m just a recent viewer who is nowhere near vegetarian or vegan, but appreciate passionate and detailed information when researching nutritional topics or researching an appliance

65 kPa? Atmospheric pressure is around 100 kPa, so this vacuum blender only goes down to 65% atmospheric pressure? Doesn't really seem good enough in all honesty. You're still whipping an enormous amount of gas into the juice, and around 21% of that gas will be oxygen. I suspect any benefit from vacuum blending is more a result of sealing the juice from the atmosphere, rather than pulling all the oxygen out. Once the initial charge of oxygen is consumed by the produce then no additional oxygen can enter and cause further oxidation.
@dopamin_express2 жыл бұрын
Misconception. Vacuum blenders are worlds better than regulat blenders, give them a try. Only stupid people spend a lot of money on blenders without vacuum function like Vitamix or Blendtec.
