That's an interesting soap and something I was looking at making actually! In my research I found that found that Apple cider vinegar neutralized the lye somewhat which in turn requires more lye to be added to bring it back up to the proper level of saponification and the 5% superfat amount. Did you modify your lye amount in this one or did you leave it at the same amount? That would only increase the superfat a tiny bit but curious to know what you did for this. Do find the apple cider vinegar helps with lather or other properties? I guess the puree'd apples would too. Very nice!! 💞

thank you! No, I did not adjust the lye and it works perfectly! It is a very moisturizing bar, I attribute this to the apple puree. It is also a very hard bar of soap with conditioning properties due to the stearic acid.

Very interesting soap. I love ACV and would be keen to try out formulations with this component. I was wondering why there wasn’t any preservative added. Kindly share.

Hi, thank you! You don't need to add preservative to cold process soap, even when it contains fruit or vegetable purees. The saponification process naturally preserves it and the ph is high enough to ward off bacteria or mold growth.

I see you live in California, as do I. I never see rice bran oil in stores here and wonder why. Is buying it online the only option? Thanks for a great video!

Hi Ma'am, Does adding ACV into the cold process soap reduce the pH value of the soap?.. I'm desperately trying to reduce the pH value of my soap, for skin sensitive. If you know, please let me know ma'am . Thanks
@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany Жыл бұрын
Hi there, cold process soap naturally has a high ph. It usually is around a ph of 9. You can't really lower the ph of cold process soap. Lowering the ph on a cp soap will cause it to not set up properly. Essentially, it can fall out of solution if it is too low of a ph. So, that would include things like not using enough lye and using too much of a ph altering additive like citric acid. If you want to make lower ph products, consider syndet bars made with gentle surfactants. Or surfactant based body washes. You can get the ph of those types of products exactly where you want them with no problems at all.

Hi Cory thank you for sharing another wonderful recipe, can I add yoghurt to this recipe? How much is advisable ?
@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany2 жыл бұрын
Hi, you are welcome. That is a great question. I am not sure how it would react with the apple cider vinegar. I would try two heaping tablespoons and add at trace if I were going to try this. But is would make a lovely soap if it works out!

@@deurbanscents2561 lol, no, I use the empty lye containers to hold my my solution usually. In this case my lye was already measured out in an empty lye container.
