People are ridiculous! Her baby is one year old and once they get to a certain age you don't have to be so careful with sterilising things as their immune system is stronger. I'm not going to make my own wipes but I found the video interesting and if I was to make my own wipes I'd do it this way. Thanks for sharing how you make your wipes, and ignore all the negative comments! X

Now that my baby is not one, I still like to keep baby wipes, aka "personal wipes." Same principle, except I've always used distilled water. I've recently switched from baby soap to a mild, grown up soap called fruitboost. so if you have a mild shower gel with a really nice scent, give it a try! or find a lavender baby soap! my favorite paper towel is viva. some disagree with me, but I like it. it feels like cloth and is thick.

Some folks mentioned don't flush. True! even the ones that say flushable. don't even flush q-tips! a plumber told me you'd be surprised! one more comment, but will type separately.

I'm a plumber and that only applies if you have root invasion in your sewer, a weak flushing toilet, or a septic system. If you have a powerful flush, a city sewer, and no root issues, flush w/e will go!

What need to know is how long does the wipes stay moist and do they mildew?
@JayyDawgg
@JayyDawgg 9 жыл бұрын
As long as they are kept in a good air tight container, they will stay wet just as long as any other wipes. And haven't had any problem with mildew.

why don't you use cloth wipes? obviously on the long run you'll save a bunch.

Bana Narama Obviously yes cloth wipes and diapers are extremely cheaper. This video is just a way to save money on disposable wipes.

gosh I wish I'd thought of that! I thought I was being awesome just with my diy wipes! Can you still pre-moisten cloth wipes? Do you have a container until you've gathered a few?

+Jennifer W i used lionheart wipe warmer. it has a little moist pad under the wipes and it keeps them moist and warm. i have 24 wipes and i go through them pretty quickly so they dont grow stinky. i toss them with the dirty diapers (cloth). and to keep them soft and good for baby bum i moisten them in water with a tablespoon of coconut oil. it makes them smoother than just water. and coco oil is the best for keeping babybum happy!

anything mild. just be sure it doesn't irritate. some store bought ones are harsh. regardless, they're expensive and chemical ridden. Of course, I say that, yet I still buy Dollar Tree wipes! they are VERY harsh, though, but I don't leave them like that. Rinse them well in tap water. Make your mix (water, soap, oil), then do same as you would with towels, making sure not to overdo it. I do recommend using distilled water. costs $1 for a gallon, but prevents mold.

I just saw someone using Dr. Bronners castile soap and coconut oil. It's much more expensive, but if you already have it on hand, it's much healthier for the baby.

And it's cheaper to buy baby wash clothes in bulk and reuse. But good idea just the product you have is not good for babies. You should look it up

wipes are not as expensive as buying paper towels. take an old receiving blanket and cut it up and put them in a container with baby soap and water voila.

Don't Flush them! Don't Flush them! Don't Flush them! If you want to save money, Don't Flush them! They will back up and clog the pipes and the plumber will take all your supposed savings in one visit (or your landlord will charge you the fee!)

+JayyDawgg The wipes don't break down in water. I've got a wipe in a jar of water at my house and it hasn't even started to degrade...and I shake it everyday (the jar, not my booty)

Doesn't look hygienic. Paper rolls on rug first then didn't say if water was distilled, then using finger to rub in soap...

I am definitely not a germ-a-phob. I do however make them on the counter but in such a small apartment, there was no room to record the video. Tap water and clean hands never killed nobody….

JayyDawgg I like the overall idea but using distilled water can help with the bacteria. I also felt odd seeing those rolls on floor but you had your reason and other people choose not to do that and also use gloves which I would do if I will make them...And about tap water, if you leave the water in any product over a few days, it will produce bacteria and that can surely do tons of damage! These little things count when you are going to use something for hygiene purpose. :)

all the products that you bought to make the wipes are surely more expensive than just buying a pack of wipes... surely they aren't that expensive. you can still afford to go out and spend a tenner on a container to make your own in and another tenner for a bottle of baby oil.. haha seems backwards for a saving of $5 a month. thats like £2.50 over here in the UK. I'd save my time and just stop being a cheap ass and buy a pack of bloody wipes haha

You'd be surprised how expensive wipes are, especially the name brands. But yeah depends on what is more important to you, saving money or saving time.
