How to make Bait loaders & Bait Needles

In this video I will show how to make bait loaders and parallel bait needles out of 1.6mm, 316L stainless steel welding rods.
I also demonstrate from the beach how to prepare a 2 sand eel bait and present on a pennel hook trace.

Good informative vid mate, use bait needles myself all the time singles and doubles. Often whip baits on needles then freeze in batches. Personally find it easier using on a session pre done rather than preparing them at the venue.

Nice video Mark. I make my own loaders too. When I use the single needle to load up lugworm,i like to slide a couple of rubber beads onto the wire , stopping opposite the crook where your hook sits during whipping. I find it stops the worms sliding too far down when i slide them on and it acts as something to grab when i slide it off ready to cast

If you make one and try it out dont give up on it but adapt it to what suits you best. They become really useful.

Martyn Benyon If you do make some up, 2.4mm 300series filler rods work a bit better. Being a welder myself i made some out of 1.6 and notnreally stiff enough, were a bit too bendy

Interesting vid mark, Ive only ever really used baiting needles for frozen blacks but will try them for frozen fish baits /Squid and coctails etc.

I find single needles are good for worm baits, the duel needles for cocktails or holding bigger fish baits and the loaders for placing the hooks.

i know youve done a lot of great footage and fantastic fishing have you tried the easy2hook for your top oennel rig how they go on s just the best hook ever for top and bottom hook for any pennel rig . having landed fish well over 220lbs they can withstand a good battering

Mark where you get the rods mate? I know sandman sings it's praises but 3kg for 55 quid or whatever it is? I only want a handful to make some throw away leads, baiting needle ect

My brother and I both weld so I have it easily to hand. You could try MIGTIG&ARC in Portsmouth. Failing that and if there is enough interest I could get a bundle and split it down. The loaders and needles last forever as they are better quality. Really useful to be able to make different sizes to suit personal bait choice.

@@seaangling that's a really good idea, I put that to sandman a while back. I would have zero problem paying a bit over the odds so I didn't have to get kg,s of the stuff. I thought about doing it myself and making a few quid but I don't think I have the customer base like you guys.

Yes, from MIGTIGARC. Not sure how many rods is in a 0.5kg bundle.

Is the IMAX suit any good?

It is inexpensive with some compromises. It gets waterlogged in heavy rain and the knees wore out on mine from the shingle. For cost they are reasonable but for high end performance there are better options.

I think the suit is good for warmth but poor in heavy rain, comfortable to wear but the knees need strength pads otherwise they wear through. Overall you do get a lot for your money but there are compromises. 👍🏻 I hope that helps.
