Vanakum Krishna🙏I am from South Africa, when I was growing up my amma used to cook banana stems, she used to cut the stem into small cubes, immerse it in salted turmeric water & gently beat it with a stick that resembled a fork, this is how she would remove the threads, I remember amma cooking a delicious curry with gram dhal. Please can you tell me what type of banana tree is these stems cut from. I was a little girl when we used to have this curry & can't remember. After cutting add moong dal and shok it for 10 to 15 minutes. Then cook it using few green chilies. No need to use tomato. After frying add little water for boiling. It gives a kottu. The taste is so delicious 😋. We cook this frequently.
