The thing I am looking forward to is implementing the ON/OFF Switches in very creative ways. They have many uses and can be used in so many different ways. I also wanted to make a series of levels that involve spin-jumps. Using the same theme for different levels in this series would definitely help. For example: one of my levels introduces spinning on spineys, having different methods like maybe them on tracks, jumping over spikes while spinning on a walking spiney, etc, and periodically placing checkpoints after each hurdle. Then the next level would be pirahna plants. Then the next level would be bomb-ombs. And for the last level have some sort of boss level implementing you to spin jump and survive, then face a boss after the survival round (of course there will be a checkpoint after the survival round.) If you guys like this idea, I will ensure myself to make it for you all, and also try to include as much of the new concepts from SMM2. Let me ask though: Which super mario theme should I use? -Super Mario World -New Super Mario Bros Wii -Super Mario 3D World (if they implement spin jumps, which I think they do) Give me some suggestions!!

*How this guy uses ON/OFF switches:* (implements it in various creative and innovative ways) *How a kid uses ON/OFF switches:* you know what this level needs... an ON/OFF switch at the beginning with ON/OFF blocks blocking the end so its a 50-50 chance they go through my hot garbage only to find the exit blocked off because they either did or did not hit the ON/OFF switch!

How to make a level I would like : make a kaizo level about jumping between fire clown cars while shooting fire at things but you can't move and eventually you get items like shells or a fire flower for the and then for the next section have it so the auto scroll is going to fast for the clown cars so you have to keep jumping in between while doing tricks like midair spring or p switch jumps, yumps shell jumps or yoshi catches and yes my wii u is broken and I wanna get it fixed before smm2. Anyways something like that not putting random stuff everywhere with predictable "trolls" and uploading it.

Its nice and refreshing to see a "how to make a good level" video that *isn't* just a rant on auto levels or genres op specifically just doesn't like and then concludes with "just make it fun please". Instead, this video gives great advice for all levels and kinds of players and doesn't focus on "make it fun" for too long. (While it is an important point, it's too vague to inflate to your number one piece of advice.) I also love the calm narration and great level examples you provided in this video.

is your channel new? This is some of the most well put together SMM content I've seen, and you easily deserve 100 times as many subscribers. I'm excited for the new SMM and I don't even have a Switch. ( nor will I own one for probably a good couple years to come.) Just because Super Mario Maker was a masterpiece and it was a shame it released exclusively on WiiU, apart from the 3DS port.
@TobiasBergdorf5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! My channel isn't entirely new, but I've started putting more effort into making regular content this year. I agree that Mario Maker is one of the best games out there and didn't get it's deserved popularity being on the WiiU. The switch will certainly do it justice.

I hope there will be a shop in SMM2 Where you could buy power-ups and store them in some sort of inventory and you could use them between levels. To avoid breaking the game though, Some levels could restrict that.

That's a good idea! I've thought of a shop to use coins in but have never considered that you could buy items to use in-game. That would be pretty interesting!

so why does dying and respawning at a checkpoint get rid of the pink key coins you have already collected? the point of a checkpoint is to not lose all your progress yet this erases all of your progress and limits what you can do with them. this entirely defeats the purpose of a checkpoint and the premise of the game itself. seems completely asinine to me. is there a way around this?

"troll levels are bad" - tobias bergdorf
@TobiasBergdorf5 жыл бұрын
I disagree, troll levels have become some of the most exciting and inventive stages to come out of this last year of Mario Maker. But these are levels that are designed to surprise the player and subvert their expectations, not to frustrate them or kill them over and over.
@AlgyCuber5 жыл бұрын
i agree with you but you said punishing players is bad in the video and most troll levels punish you for waiting, not waiting, doing stuff, etc, i love troll levels, i don't have mario maker though, i think i'm gonna get it on the switch version later bec i just got a switch
@TobiasBergdorf5 жыл бұрын
Punishing players for things that they can't control is bad. Obviously there has to some sort of punishment because it's a video game. My point was instead of thinking "how should I punish the player for doing this wrong" you should try to reward the player for doing something correctly.
@AlgyCuber5 жыл бұрын
troll levels are just punishing players as an unexpectation and that's bec they're doing something wrong
@TobiasBergdorf5 жыл бұрын
I feel like you're misunderstanding me. There's going to be punishment and reward systems in every level, that's just how video games work. What I'm talking about is avoiding punishment for things that were out of control of the player, such as pick a door or making your jump pixel perfect.
