In this video I share with you how to make birch syrup! This is truly a treat of the Nordic wilderness. And from the birches we have in Norway it takes about 10 litres of birch sap to make 100ml of syrup... So these are dearly made drops of tree gold!
The only ingredient for Birch Syrup is Birch sap! And you need to tap it now, in early spring if you are going to get any. Tapping trees takes a toll on them, and its very important to do it in the nicest way possible. Also you always need to ask the land owner for permission, at least here in Norway. Takker for nok en opplysende video, selv har jeg vert så heldig og motatt mine første liter av bjørkesevje fra mor natur. Det var så kaldt i natt at sevja frøs i slangen, men den smakte nydelig og selvsagt husket jeg på å takke for gaven fra naturen. Wooooow considering this is my favorite wood to burn due to it’s gorgeous scent, I’m amazed it can be tapped for syrup too! I really can’t wait to try it, I really Do love this beautifully created tree 🌳

Because of your tree video I realized I have a maple tree in my garden. Tapped maple water this year in addition to the birch tree water. You’re the best!

Very nice I do made some artisanal at about 250 bucket I have special pans stainless 1/8 of inch tick about 3 mil ….the syrup density have to be at 62 to 66 brix to be call syrup …. Then it not mold you can freeze it but not necessary but under that it will mold Yes you can boiled it at the beginning but to finish it that have to be very low and do not live it at the end …I bring some to the density to molasses……..

Love it. Now I just need to find a maple tree but I think there will be some in rural Northern England when I move there for next season worst case scenario :)

@@Mariaandtheforest because im doing it for the First time, im in Belgium and the Trees are already giving good. With one pan like in de video , i think aprox 10 liter? You get one Little bottle like in the end, or you Need even more? Thx

​​​@@Mariaandtheforest🤦Oops, Sorry thx ! I only still have made the form before the syrup when it's Yellow concentrated, but had so few i decided to keep it like that and it's still 🤤so unbelivable ! The syrup must be heavenly. Next days when i'll gather more,im curious.

You can do that but it will most likely burn...

@@Mariaandtheforest Hmm, maybe the answer is to stir it. Rose peddle pulp and winter green oil is also good to mix into it while it deliquefies. And maybe some cream just to keep it runny.

Fin video Maria :) Det här receptet kanske kan vara något för dig. Jag har bara druckit den "enkla" varianten med enbart socker och citron som smaksättning och vatten som bas. Väldigt gott, men se upp med jästen, håll korken inte helt tätt försluten- efter någon dag så blir det lätt övertryck i flaskan. mkalmanackan.se/2019/04/26/sima-till-valborg/
