Pete, we just love fish patties here however usually make them out of tinned salmon. Your recioe with cod is an eye opener and feast for sure! Like your using sunflower oil, imparts a nice flavor. Thanks for sharing your recipe, one we have to try!

They loook great. Can't remember the last time I had good quality fishcakes like that. I have made them from the leftovers of a fish supper on the very rare occasion I don't finish the lot the same night I get one from the chippy. (just the cod without batter mushed up with chips and mushy peas, formed and fried and they come out surprisingly well.)

I tend to use cod or haddock here in the UK, both of which make excellent fish cakes. Elsewhere in the world I have used grouper, sea bass and in Australia barramundi. Thanks as always for your kind support my friends.

Cod or haddock are usually used in the UK, but any white fish will do 😋 I did a recipe for salmon fish cakes a couple of years back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYHOg4WlnrR3fNE They are not as common in the UK but they are gaining in popularity, and deservedly so too.

The ones sold in fish and chip shops are rather bland and generic, but homemade ones are super. I love all Asian fish cakes in all their varied and wonderful forms, especially Thai ones 😋
