Few questions: 1. Can I use the setter as softer? Since some told me it’s ok 2. How to tear the dried decal off cleanly if I had made a mistake? I do love this “how-to” series, it teaches beginners like me a lot!
@garyslentzii27963 жыл бұрын
You put regular masking tape on it and rip it off, may take a few strips.

Not too sure about using setter as softener, maybe it will work but will take longer to soften the decal. And if the decal is fully dried, its really hard to remove already😅

man....you have really mastered the polishing skill! No matter how much I polish, I'm always left with fine scratches.

Cool video, great tutorial! I would have liked to have seen how you tackled the cut out of the hood though. Watching, watching, patience... POP! Done... next!

Your tutorial is very interesting, informative and useful, as always. Thanks for your work!
I've only used Scale Motorsports. I never knew it was the most difficult to work with. Gonna go look for some Hobby Design sheets. Nice Work!!!
@JHHobby3 жыл бұрын
Haha its not consider the hardest to work with if you're already a pro builder😆 i find it very sensitive to softener, so maybe for beginners it will be risky
@AndrewPulaTechRED223 жыл бұрын
I used the 2nd brand decals and it is so hard to work with! I dont recommend it for new users, it drys up so fast and very easy to tear while working on it on curvy surfaces. It's easy on flat surfaces but not the same if used like the 2nd hood. I would try the 3rd decal in the future builds of mine. And thank you for posting a very well detailed guide on how to do it properly!!! Amazing work as always!!
@JHHobby3 жыл бұрын
Yes very true! The 1st time i use the 2nd decal i messed up too because its too soft and very sensitive to softener..maybe it will be very suitable for small interior parts..but for big edgy parts like the hood i still recommend HD decal..its thick and strong enough for u to work until its perfect
@voin38583 жыл бұрын
I tried applying the mask to the decal as you did and well the tape peeled the decal off the sheet. Problem solved put the mask on the back of the decal sheet.

I think it's depend on each technique. if you rub so much, or with so much force, SM decal will tear easily, HD decal seems "thick" so maybe it can withstand the rubbing.

This is a great tutorial and the polishing makes such a difference! Only problem is the scale constraint. When working with bigger scales, it's hard to find the right sized mesh so I made a tutorial about creating carbon fiber decals in any scale, check out my tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIGme6qco5aVi8U

Wait so these aren't real carbon fiber parts? You didn't make the molds of the car and then vacuum bagged them into carbon fiber? Why must you cheap out on this lol
@JHHobby3 жыл бұрын
Lol..i bet you never work on real carbon fiber..how can u mold real carbon on such a small piece? The scale is way off too.. i seen people use real CF and it turned out soo ugly! If you dont know anything dont act like you know
@georgemiller69303 жыл бұрын
@@JHHobby stop acting like a flower and dont be so sensitive. You can easily turn that into real carbon fiber. I'm in the starting process of molding my mavic air 2 into carbon aramid fiber. Its easier to do a car body than a drone.
