This is a brilliant and inspiring video. Totally convinced me to get a scroll saw. And tips on what size blade is good for this sort of intricate work?
@DailovespoonsThomas
@DailovespoonsThomas Жыл бұрын
Thanks Pete, delighted to hear the video has been useful. The blade I prefer to work with is a number 9 reverse tooth blade. The specific one I use is a Niqua Speed blade but Pegas and Flying Dutchman have their own version and can be easier to get hold of depending where you are in the world. I also enjoy working with the Niqua Pebecco blade. I have attached a link below for the blade I use myself. en.niqua-shop.de/collections/51-holzlaubsageblatter/products/holzlaubsageblatter-niqua-speed?variant=35483684569243 Thanks for supporting our KZbin channel. Love these! What size piece of wood do you generally start with? Thickess and length and width for a celtic cross as an example.
@DailovespoonsThomas
@DailovespoonsThomas 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, Great to hear from you. I use hardwood to make the jewellery from. Many of the items are no more than 1 to 2 inches in length and less than an inch wide. However, the wood I use to make them is often no smaller than 4 inches long and wide and I Mark out several items at the same time. It makes it far easier to cut out on a larger piece of wood. The thickness varies but us usually between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch. I stack layers together to cut out several at the same time. Thanks again for getting in touch and supporting our KZbin channel. Excellent video and so inspiring! Quick question: Could you use a jigsaw with a small blade to cut these out?
@DailovespoonsThomas
@DailovespoonsThomas 10 ай бұрын
Hi Susan, thanks for supporting our KZbin channel. I would stick to using a scroll saw or coping saw myself. A jigsaw is likely to be too aggressive to cut small jewellery items like these. Never say Never though. Thanks again, all the very best from us all. 👍

Hi, great to hear from you. The scroll we use is a Hegner Multicut 2s. This one has done a fantastic job for me over the last 20+ years. To buy them new is between £800-1200 here in the UK. However you will often see them on ebay second hand for £200 to £400. Well worth the investment, this has paid for itself time and time again. Thank you again for getting in touch and supporting our KZbin channel. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍

Hi Trevor, thanks for getting in touch. I use a Niqua speed number 9 reverse tooth blade. I used to but them from Hegner UK but it has been more difficult to get them recently. So I have been getting them on ebay instead. Here's a link to the seller below. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scroll-Saw-Blades-NIQUA-SPEED-5-130mm-2-0-14-Pack-12-144-pcs-Made-in-Germany-/312442344405?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 Hope it proves useful. Hi Lawrence, great to hear from you. Depends on how intricate the piece is but we price them at anywhere between £10 and £25. I think most of them are around £17.50 when we price them here at our family workshop. Great to hear from you, thank you for supporting our KZbin channel All the best from us all. 👍👍
