I had to add an extra 1.5 cups of flour for this recipe to come together. I kneaded for well over 5 minutes and with the addition of the flour it was still a sticky (shaggy) dough. Seems like there is way too much liquid. Please guide me if I did something wrong.

Hi Tessa, thanks for this recipe! I made it last Christmas and it was so amazing! It didn't puff up quite as much as I figured it should but it was still amazing. This year I'm going to try a six braid technique I saw on another video and maybe let it sit and rise longer before braiding and rising again. My kitchen's kind of cold naturally so I put the oven to warm and then shut the heat off to give it that warm environment for rising. I don't have a fancy stand up mixer, so I use a dough whisk to mix , then hand knead for awhile. Have you hand kneaded bread? I'm wondering if I didn't do it long enough last year and maybe that's why it didn't rise quite as much? I don't know a ton about bread baking, but I'm learning. Thanks for the tutorial!

I just have one question. If you divided the dough evenly at the beginning why is the second braid smaller than the first?
@sedsworld16725 жыл бұрын
Thomas & Jenny Stanford It didn’t appear to be evenly cut in half according to the dough piles. Maybe a 1/3 of the dough? That’s what I’m going to try - and by judging by sight 😬.

What is the temperture of the melted butter and water before adding it in? I just found your site and I would like to make your bread... Thank you!

leene219 Room temperature, however as long as it's not hotter than 115°F you should be fine (above that may kill the yeast).

When the bread dough doubles its size, does it become more aerated? Could you make a lot of bread by continuously kneading the dough and letting it rise? Thank you!
@TessaAriasTV10 жыл бұрын
Hi Katie, sadly I'm a little confused by your question about making a lot of bread. All I can really say is that the kneading and rising process as written in the recipe helps make the final bread product soft, airy, and leavened. I would recommend sticking to that exact method for best results.
@katherinechou742710 жыл бұрын
***** It's ok. Even though you didn't understand my question, you did partially answer it. Thank you!
