Great idea. I like the idea of doing inside while heating your shop. Thanks for sharing.

Is not concrete. Is a mix of perlite, fire clay, sand and portland cement in relation 7:1:1:1. Mix very well add water and pour inside the the metal drum. I did make a mold of wood to make the form; when the mix was solid just burn the wood mold. Wear dust mask when mix the perlite. Thank you.

I just copy the idea from someone else, but one thing I can assure you, it is very efficient, because use own heat from the sin gasses to completed the pyrolysis process. Thank you.

Hello Sergio - I like your system and approach - it is well done. I have few questions - I know I have come in at a late stage - I hope you can still answer them. 1. Your basic rocket stove has a much shorter inner riser or chimney than most and also mine - I have it at 150mm diameter and about 800mm high - Does not your exhaust smoke? Normally this height would not produce enough draw for the fire to burn as well as yours. From the fire below it seemed as though the stove was already hot before adding the wood or is there a secondary fuel used and later switched out, other than the gasses from the charcoal? 2. The amount of used fuel you show is small - did you add any more later? 3. The volume of charcoal you produced was about 50% of the wood you had. Does that not show that the temperature inside the stove and the 'charcoal tin' was much higher than even 700C? I am puzzled by this as it would suggest that the amount of wood you showed was too much! Your answers will be very welcome and help in tests I am doing at present. Thanks davinder

Impresionante: impressive. Is that your own design? The bucket inside is basically what's called a retort according to biochar people. Do you know about biochar? Your stove is very efficient. thank you
@lukedriscoll774810 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this, I am wondering if your charcoal method could be used to pyrolyse food waste or even feces into biochar. Could you give it a try, maybe with a tube in the pyrolysis chamber instead of just a hole?

Very well done, I noticed you had a different lid for the rocket stove that had a large circular hole in it. Is that for putting a large pot through the lid and to sit on the grill for cooking or perhaps to boil water?
@mikha0075 жыл бұрын
also redirect the smoke from the 1/2" hole back to the fire tube...it will help to superheat the rocket burner and reduce cooking time
@mikha0075 жыл бұрын
between the inner liner and the outside liner you need to add perlite or volcanic material as an insulator to men more heat on the inside

Yes you can heat something while make charcoal. I was thinking to put a coil around, inside the Rocket Stove, to heat water, I found that while making the charcoal the heat produce is waste. The heat produce by the process is very intense that melt the high temperature paint I used over the rocket stove. Thank you.

Sergio Bohorquez or you could create electricity like the BioLite stove.

I am thinking an oven inside the buring chamber full of wood. The wood, while being cooked, will release the fumes through some holes that lead back to the burning chamber. The problem, maybe would be the regulatione of fresh air (secondary air intake) along the chamber so the excess smoke may reburnr to a clean burn. Thats just idea yet. I know I´ve got to try, and try...

+Maurício Möller de Oliveira YES put wood in a small can then place a hole in the can the nplace the can in a charcoal fire with the hole facing down this will burn the smoke

Looking at past comments I noticed that someone had previously asked you the same question and this was your answer, thank you: "Is not concrete. I did make a mold of wood to make the form; when the mix was solid just burn the wood mold. Wear dust mask when mix the perlite. Thank you"

I'm just starting to look into doing this as well, but I've heard that the hot fire will destroy a steel drum or pail after 10 or so runs of charcoal. How many batches have you found that you can do with that setup before the bucket was burnt through?
@antonhelsgaun8 жыл бұрын
+David Wiebe i know this migth not be the best thing, but any clay really will do, then mix it with water into a very wet clay, then paint the bucket in it, it makes it last alot longer
@WorshipTheSavior8 жыл бұрын
+Anton Helsgaun That's an interesting idea... kind of putting a protective coating on it I guess. I'll remember that and try it out! Thanks!
