This is something I can actually make since it only requires a microwave! I’m so excited!!! And those of you wondering - I live in a rehab facility due to being born with a disability and that can make aging a very interesting to say the least! But in all honesty, I’ve had this body my whole life. Having physical challenges is nothing new to me. Most of the people on my unit had their mobility and life as they knew it taken from them in a split moment and what has been my normal is now new to them. It sucks! I was planning on doing a small Christmas party on my unit for the folks here (and myself) who don’t have family nearby and this will be perfect to serve as I am having difficulty trying to find a microwave friendly Bagna Cauda recipe! Lol

Hey Cara! How did the recipe turn out? I'm also disabled and can only use a microwave so I'm excited to make this for the holidays on a little charcuterie board. I made preserved lemons this year, and they're absolutely delicious and super easy (cut lemons, add salt- boom!). Curious how the residential rehab facility is going? Are you in the US? How is that different from like a nursing home or a group home? I've not heard of a permanent residential rehab facility, and I may need to look into options like these in the coming future. Thanks! Enjoy the salami!

Here in greece we make the same thing without the hazelnuts and we use sweetened condensed milk. Since Harper likes history, he would probably be interested to know that here in greece we call this dessert "Μωσαϊκό" which means mosaic. We call it mosaic because of the layers that we see after the dessert is cut that (somehow) resemble the byzantine mosaics. Edit: A fellow greek in the comments reminded me that this dessert also has the name "kormos" (= tree log). I completely forgot about that but this only shows how awesome and expressive our language is. Cheers to both of you.

I am from Bulgaria (which is in South Europe too) and traditionaly this is one of the first recipes kids learn how to prepare here, because it's easy and simple to follow. So if someone is new to making desserts and cooking in general, I would strongly recommend trying this one. Awesome video by the way.

I like this video, because a lot of countries has some variations of this. In BG we call it "sweet salami" understandably why. First time I heard that, thought, who in the right mind will make the meat sweet and air dry it. How does that even work. We cured meat with my father since I was a little boy, no more than 5-6years old. So I know what is needed and sugar is not that.

0:31 THANK YOU! OK, so my family is vegetarian and I’m a high raw vegan. That means 80% or more of my diet is raw or “cooked” in a dehydrator under 118°. I am going to make this with dehydrated, sprouted buckwheat groats for the cookies, Markus Sweet for the sugar, as that’s a sugarless sugar, maple syrup, coconut oil for the butter and coconut cream for the milk. I’ll add a lot more hazelnuts because, well, HAZELNUTS! I can’t wait to make this and see how it turns out. If it’s awful, it’s HARPER’S FAULT!!! Eva can do no wrong. Love you guys! Creative to suit your necessities, i like that. Can i ask something? I kinda understand vegans, but i'm not getting why someone would only eat raw, care to explain your motivations?
@amy3458
@amy3458 3 жыл бұрын
@@argus0ia I’d be happy to explain! Thanks for asking. ❤️ Raw, especially organic, plants are living foods. They contain enzymes that help you digest their proteins and make the vitamins and minerals mire bioavailable. When these foods are cooked, heating them above 118° F can destroy the enzymes and probiotic bacteria in the plants. So, eating foods whole and as close to the way God made them is healthier for us. Some foods like legumes can be sprouted and eaten raw but NEVER just raw. I sprout lentils and chickpeas and eat them like that. I also do cook some foods that have more benefits cooked, like tomatoes. I will eat a cooked tomato sauce lije Eva makes but for myself, I put that over raw zucchini noodles. It’s delicious! All grains, nuts, seeds and legumes should be soaked for eight hours to remove the phytic acid, which is a nutrient inhibitor. In those meals when you eat them unsoaked, your body will struggle to absorb calcium, magnesium and zinc. So, I soak everything and then dehydrate or cook it for my family. Nuts are THE BEST like thus because they readily sprout when soaked and become SUPER CRUNCHY in the dehydrator! Yum! The HealthyLife has some really great recipes for raw vegan yummies. Their cookbook is awesome, too. 😁❤️🙏🏼 Of course, I’m still waiting on a cookbook from Pasta Grammar even though I’m sure we can’t eat much from it! I’ll still buy it, though! Love me some Pasta Grammar! ❤️ Edited to add: I almost forgot! Raw plant fiber feeds the probiotics in your gut...your immune system. You NEED raw plant fiber to have a healthy gut! 👍🏼
