Coconuts are not just delicious to eat. Apparently coconut oil is also good for skin, hair, weight loss, treating various infections and many more things!
So BattaBox sent our new family member, Mary, to Boglo village not far from the Seme border, to find out how to make coconut oil from scratch.
Here are some of the interesting things she learnt...
First you crack the coconut open with a machete.
Sounds simple right?
WRONG!
"Someone that hasn't eaten eba won't be able to do this!" Mary exclaims.
LOL!
Then you grate the coconut with a grater before adding water.
Next step?
Watch the video to find out!!!

the coast from certain section of badagry all the way to ghana is beautiful and will certainly make for good vacation spots but unfortunately our governments do not like to invest in such. They just want ready made cash that they can cart away.

Love, love, love the NATIVE Battabox...Africans are so self reliant and resoureful...Most may not be rich monetarily, but they are rich in culture, sustainability and other life skills...I haven't seen this presenter before, but she has great camera presence...

Liz A--Although I expected backlash, it didn't take very long for an overly emotional vampire to suck the life out of my COMPLIMENT to Africa/ Africans...These 6 words "Most Africans are not rich monetarily" WAS NOT meant to start a riot or cause u to write a thesis on the Western invasion of Africa...Let me be very clear about my comment, those very same words can truthfully apply to MOST people in any country on any Continent...MOST Americans are not rich monetarily, particularly Black Americans( myself included), but we are rich in other aspects of life as well... Some foreigners may not understand, agree with or realize that WE Black Americans have our own culture albeit restructured and altered due to our historical past, BUT HONESTLY MOST BLACK AMERICANS ADMIRE THE RICH HISTORY AND RESILIENCE OF AFRICA/ AFRICANS!!!! Please stop trying to pick apart the comments of others, but most importantly STOP trying to pit "Westerners" and Africans against each other...This is a new day and age and whatever happened umpteenth years ago LET IT GO, MOVE FORWARD AND LET'S FORGE A BOND...

Liz A --The Western nation that stole Africans and put them into slavery....What about the AFRICANS that WILLINGLY SOLD US( Black Americans, Jamaicans, West Indies, etc) into slavery to those Westerners??? U are right that we should not forget our history, but we should not wallow in it either...That is a pertinent part of history, but rarely if ever is that discussed...I could make all types of assumptions about modern day Africans based on what history has taught us, but I won't, I can't because I have to move forward in creating a bond with my fellow Africans....

Liz A -- Liz, U REALLY DON'T HAVE A HAPPY, PRODUCTIVE LIFE DO U? U and I debated this issue TWO MONTHS AGO and u come back today to rehash an old comment...What is wrong with u? Do u need psychotropic meds or are u out of them? Girl, go play in traffic and GTFOH!!!

Most often for skin care, hair care and soap making. Traditionally it isnt used much in food making aside from some confectionery (candy making). There is the good ol' one we call "baba dudu" a hard candy made of sugar, coconut milk/oil.

Luu la-fille The lady that was teaching her was speaking yoruba and you want her to respond in english? 😅 What if she didn't speak english. They were in Nigeria...why should they have to speak English if they don't want to. The subtitles were just fine.
